In the US? How has the current economical situation impacted you?

My family is currently in serious financial trouble, and for the first time in my life I dont know how to fix it. I've always had marketable skills, and been able to pull of a living doing some sort of work. Now, I just got hired part time making just over minimum wage, and that was over 3 months of hard searching for work. If I cant pull 1k out of thin air this month, we will lose our house, and the closest person that can take us in is over 75 miles away (and that is 100 miles away from where I work), but we are not even in some of the worse situations. I know people that have recently had to move into the homeless shelters because they had no place to go, at all. My parents (in their 60's) are still working the same jobs they have been for 20 years, but have had to take pay cuts equaling roughly 50% just to keep their jobs over the past 3 years. And this is all in Texas, which according to reports I have heard, is doing far better than most of the other states. I was just wanting to find out from others across the country, how are things fairing in your state? How are your making out, and what are your plans if things get worse, (which according to many of the reports I have been following they will over the next 5 years at least.)? Thank you for sharing, and I will try and respond to each and every one of you.
