Hi there myloters, Nice to be back, again I would like to hear some views and opinions. I'm working in an institution where discipline is implemented and being observed for a long time, it is regarding the unstoppable attendance issues of my colleagues and subordinates. A lot of things to address this has been applied and yet the issue is still there, So if you're in that situation how will you deal with it and what other actions you will apply to make them become a good example for the other employees and stop them from committing it over and over again?

I would suggest that you talk to them individually or case to case basis since different people have different reasons for acting. With subordinates it is easier cause you can just summon them one by one in your office to discuss problems or issues. With colleagues it would be a little bit harder but not impossible to do, since you are peers and equal in footing , it is best to discuss matters casually so nobody takes offense, you can discuss this in say like while having lunch, this Christmas season also offers many opportunities to discuss problems minus the corporate or office atmosphere. Good luck on your work and wish you the best

Thank You for that, My managers already did that and let go of those whose really not committed to the job, It is effective when we talked to them one by one and they 'll show improvement but only for a period of time, then after a month or two here they go again, they loose the sense of consistency. Knowing that they know the cure to prevent the issue.

All you have to do is present to them what their actions' consequences in the future will be. They should realize the change they should make upon knowing those consequences.

In our company, we have the Code of Ethics which upon being hired , you are to read and absorb thoroughly. Then , you will be made to sign to conform, which includes about tardiness and attendance. With regards tardiness, there is a step by step process . . 1st offense (considered offensive if you committed more than 5 tardiness) verbal warning ; 2nd written warning ; 3rd 3 days suspension without pay ; . . . until on the 10th offense , dismissal. obody would like to be dismissed because of tardiness. Lately, cash incentive is being given to those who didn't occur tardiness and had perfect attendance. Hence, everybody aims for it , unfortunately a number only achieved it, but tardiness in the office has been put to tolerable number of times.
