When we are children Christmas is always a very magical part of the year for us. That led me to want to learn what favorite Christmas memories that other mylotter have from when they were children. Mine was when I was about nine years old and Magic Nursery Babies came out. That was really the only thing that I wanted for Christmas that year and I was ecstatic when Christmas morning came along and I'd gotten one. They had on these little hospital gowns that you dissolved in water to see if your baby was a boy or a girl. Well, I dissolved my baby's gown and learned that my baby was twins. I got to mail in the little card and about Valentine's Day I had a complete set of boy girl twins. Please share your favorite Christmas memories with me.

My most memorable Christmas was the one when there was a huge blizzard on Christmas Eve and I had to go to the hospital to have my youngest daughter. We took the old pickup that could get through anything and had a police escort to the hospital. My daughter was born within a couple of hours and I remember lying there, looking out the window and I could see nothing but white, swirling snow. I didn't think we would get home for Christmas, but we did.

That must be really cool to have a child whose birthday is that close to Christmas. My daughter was due two days after Christmas but was instead born three weeks before so she really doesn't share her birthday with Christmas.

It's kind of neat. The hospital gave us a huge Christmas stocking to bundle her in when we took her home.

That is so neat. I can only imagine what it would have been like if Kathryn would have been a true Christmas baby.

I do not have childhood memories during the holidays. But when thing I sure made sure was to make my children holiday memories very memorable as I do know how important it is for them to continue the holiday traditions when they too become parents some days. My daughter was a Sheera fan, and so I made made sure to scour all the stores until I found the castle for her and all the super heroes that came with it. We still have the castle and I have stored away for her some day. She probably does not care for it any longer but I am sure one day when she has a little one she can share it with her. As I remember that glow and happiness on her face when she thought she was a very good little girl as Santa answered her wishes.

It is so cool that you've packed away the toy so that she might one day be able to share it with a child of her own. I've been able to share some of my toys from childhood with my daughter and she loves them as much as I did.

ik dorannmwin my favorite memory was the year our high school glee club sang Handel's messiah Christmas eve at the Methodist Congregational Church. Everyone in town was there and we really did sound pretty good . everyone clapped and clapped and we sang an oncore of oh Holy Night and it was really very good.we had practiced for months before the performance. we did two nights and most of the people came back for the seconbd night. Parents and relatives and other people too. in a small town'eople will turn ou t for these things. I felt so proud of our glee club and too this was at the time when the US joined in the second worldwar so people were hurting with sons being shipped off to war;

That really is an amazing memory. I can completely see why it is something that remains so vivid in your mind. And to have that little ray of sunshine during a time that was so difficult for this country. Thank you so much for sharing.

apart from the excitement of openings gifts on Christmas morning what I liked best as a child was being woken up to go to Midnight Mass. It was so dark and cold and when we got home my mother would give us hot mince pies U.K. thing as Christmas). They were delicious and then we would go to bed clutching our hot water bottles as the bedrooms were icy cold.

I've never had the opportunity to go to midnight mass because we've always spent Christmas Eve with my dad's brothers and sisters. However, midnight mass would be something that I would love to experience once.

My sister and I always had great Christmases growing up filled with lots of presents and stuff, however I don't know why not one of them stands out in my mind. I can tell you about going over to my grandparents house on Christmas Eve, and going to my aunts and uncles houses, but never Christmas morning. I know that is odd and I don't really know why as I have looked at pictures and I see all the nice presents I received. However, oddly, I can tell you more about Christmas dinner with all my family and relatives. Maybe because when I was growing up the emphasis was always on the true meaning of Christmas and also with family and not so much on the presents. It is odd however, that I can't remember one gift I got that sticks out in my memory.

That is neat that the memories that stick out more in your mind were of being able to spend time with your family over the gifts that you received. That definitely goes to show that your parents really did teach you the true meaning of Christmas.

I have many, many great memories about Christmas but the things that stand out the most for me were coming back from Christmas Eve service on the 24th around 8 PM or so and opening presents. It was always such an exciting event for me as a kid (it's presents for god's-sake, how can it not be exciting, lol).

That sounds similar to spending Christmas Eve with my aunts and uncles and cousins on my father's side of the family. We still do that, even today even though it is a lot different than it was back then.

I have a few. When I was little I had a porcelain doll custom made for me. It was beautiful. My mom had it made for me as an alternative to the Cabbage Patch dolls, but I can't remember why she had an original one made for me. But, I loved that doll. Another memory was from when I was older. Probably around 11 or 12 years old. My class sang Christmas Carols for the people in a nursing home. My mom was one of the parents who helped out, and we brought sugar free candy for them and my little brother came along. I loved the singing. Especially when we sang Jingle Bell Rock. That was fun.

That would be so cool to have a doll custom made for you. I never had anything like that, but another cool memory that I have is when my parents got me a set of doll bunk beds one year for Christmas, that was pretty cool.

Wooow...so nice..though we don't celebrate Christmas...but i like its way of celebration too much..specially when the kids are given the happiness which they think is given or sent to them by God...its such a nice feeling...and i liked your memory incident too much...first i was not getting your discussion properly...i thot that after marriage you got the real twins......but when i read carefully i understood that it must be some offer from some company etc...and you must have got the toy pair (twin) from them as gift...

Yeah, the prize was a promotion that the makers of the Magic Nursery Baby dolls did when the toys first came out. It is just a special memory to me because it was one of those times that something really cool happened in my life.

When we were small we drove about 3 hours to visit my Father's parents. It was a long trip and we slept most of the way. Once we got there we got to visit the man next door to my Grandparents. He had and extensive electric train desplay. This was magic to my brother and me. Each year things changed as he added to this wonderful world. My brother loved this so much that as a family man he started his own magic train world and even as an adult I loved to visit it.

It would be so cool to have an opportunity to visit a magical train world. My little boy is a huge fan of trains and this would be something that I think would never be rivaled in him mind.

hi dora, i dont remember my age then but i remember it was night time and Santa Claus came to the door. Yes! Its true. he knocked and my mom told me to open the door and there he was. he was a very big man with big belly. but his mustache was funny. it was like cotton. but i wasnt concentrating on that. i was so consumed with what was in the sack. He made me sit on his lap and ask what i want for Christmas. And i said a "big doll with eyes that closes and opens". and he took from the sack. Wow! Just what i wanted. after saying thank you to him, i ran to the room to play with it. after a few minutes, i remembered mom was cooking and i was hungry and i forgot to ask Santa to stay so we can eat together. but when i went back to the living room, mom said he went already because there were many kids that he will still visit. Then father came from the bedroom. I didnt know he was there already. I told him what just happened and he smiled. He said i was probably a very good girl thats why Santa gave me that very nice toy. ann

That reminds me of one Christmas when I was a little girl. My parents and grandparents were all members of the VFW in Cincinnati and we went to the Christmas party up there. Santa Claus was there and I ended up ruining it for everyone because as I was sitting on Santa's lap I announced to everyone that Santa Claus was my Papaw.

My favorite Christmas memories when i was a child is when my father brought me a playing piano. I was very happy that time. I can't really forget it because that was the time my father grant my request to him.

My parents always tried to get us what we wanted. Then there were times that they got us things that were completely unexpected that we loved just the same.

I think mine was when me and my brother got a skateboard for Christmas. We only got one to share but we didn't mind. It was one of those big, bulky plastic ones but we sure had fun with it. I remember trying to sleep at nights, but couldn't because we couldn't wait to show it off to our neighbor friends who already have their own skateboards.

My favourite memory is both of good and bad at christmas really. I think i was about 7 years old and my mum had got me a new bike, but i can't remember what i did but i certainly did do something wrong on christmas eve, i got to open some presents on christmas day but my main present, my bike, i did not get until a couple of days later. Well i guessed i deserved it and i was better behaved afterwards, guess it did teach me a lesson really. But boy did i love getting that bike, my first ever bike. Well, i don't think that i was ever badly behaved again around christmas, but getting the bike meant a lot to me as i had always wanted one.

There was a time when I was younger that I snooped through the gifts prior to Christmas and that year was the year that I didn't get anything that I expected to open on Christmas morning.
