Did you choose to go freelance because you hated dealing with your boss?

One of the reasons I started working as a freelancer 5 years ago was because I hated dealing with my boss. Back then I had just graduated from college, I did an internship and felt like a slave. I felt like there was too much negative talk in the office and that I couldn't fit in. Working freelance was kind of similar: sometimes the feedback was good, sometimes not so good. Now I'm back working for a company and I feel like somehow the freelance experience makes me fit in better... Would you be able to deal with a boss and work strict hours? What if you were offered good pay but painful working conditions?

I work as a freelance writer because I find it interesting and would like to put some extra buck in my wallet.
