Hello Mylotters, Here in the Phils., the most popular pork meat viand is adobo. Although, it could be cooked with chicken instead of pork, there are two natural ways of cooking it; in "asin" (salt )or in "toyo" (soy sauce). At home , back when all of my siblings and i were still singles and living with our parents, we would always differ in our taste in the cooking of our "adobo". Three of us including our father, likes it seasoned with "asin" while my mother and my 3 other siblings like it seasoned with "toyo" . So, what mother will do is cook it seasoned in "asin" the first day and the next day it will be "toyo". whatever way adobo will be cooked , i like it so much, but really i like it best if it's simply seasoned in "asin" because it tastes like "lechon" . What about you fellow mylotters ?

This makes me hungry , might cook adobo later hehe:). I prefer soy sauce because it's more flavorful than salt. Mom cooks it that way, she uses soy sauce when she cooks adobo. I think my mom already mastered its ingredients (adobo) like most Filipina moms do. One time her adobo almost tasted like Szechuan Chicken and I really liked it. Anyway salt is a great alternative so let me try it next time I cook adobo. Happy mylotting!

Yes, try salt also. Marinate it for at least an hour prior to cooking in salt, crushed garlic and "pinong paminta". Then boil it in two cups of water and let it simmer until it is soft and the fat from the meat comes out and fry it for a while to brown it. Happy eating!

My mom always puts soy sauce on it and so i can say that i am more used to having it with soy sauce. It taste much more good to me than putting it with salt only. My fave is pork adobo..i so love it. It makes me want to eat it now..yummy!

I prefer soy sauce, It has more flavor but not salty. And it adds color to the chicken too. My mother in law cooked it with salt but she will add "atsuwete" a seed like thing that makes the chicken reddish brown.
