i used to do a lot of business trips locally and a few ones in other asian countries. in the last few years, we've been doing family vacations in different destinations and always, we have a great time reminiscing our experiences especially culture appreciation (people, food, language, history, traditions etc). some experiences are funny, some interesting, some provides culture-shock and some just plain enjoyable. hehe here's a couple: last june when we visited vietnam, we went to cuchi tunnel and the guide walked us through how life was for the cuchi people during the war. we saw the living quarters underground and the tunnels that served as hiding place during combat. it was like literally disappearing from sight when enemies are in your tails. ground holes are so small, i was amazed how people could fit right in. the vietnamese guide sampled the hole himself so we could see how it's done. alas, when us tourists were given our chance to sample it ourselves, the big australian/new zealand guys actually volunteered. it was fun seeing them try it one by one. the last guy... hahaha we were so afraid he wouldn't get out of the hole exclaiming something that his "a s s" just wouldn't fit. hongkong in march last year with 6 people in tow including 3 kids, an elderly grandma, a first-time traveller and a brother... was fun and a challenge at the same time. because of different age groups, i had to find something to do/see that everyone would agree to. the kids were into action, their grandma wasn't. adults want to try authentic chinese restaurants, kids decided mcdonald's. hehe and then we had a hard time getting the kind of rice my mom wanted. whew!!! fun and funny moments in hk includes getting separated in the peak where my brother had to check all floors of the malls to look for the kids. and he finally saw them thru the glass planes at the peak... he was on the top floor while the kids were spotted on the grounds of the other building. he hated the cold and he's not a fan of heights either. hehehe each place we went to is different, each country has its own personality. i love visiting new places and traveling. i've only been to 7 asian countries to date and i look forward to somehow travel across asian borders. perhaps europe given the chance.

a photo at the peak, hk - my brother at the peak, hongkong...

he insisted that before we went down, he should at least have a souvenir picture. hehe
so far, like many asian governments, vietnam is also pushing for the tourism industry. it is relatively safe. war has been over for decades now. in our visit to hongkong, we stayed only a week armed only with a map. we were able to visit the 3 major islands by hopping on to mtr, bullet train, trams, bus, boat... except the taxi hehehe we weren't able to visit macau though. maybe next time. i actually liked the lights display show at 8pm. it is only a few minutes but it was a quiet fun, very relaxing near the park and shoreline. we also had the very breezy walk near the hollywood boulevard (i dont know what it was called actually) and we looked for jet li's and jacky chan's hand imprint. wax display figures is also nice. i think my mom has bruce lee on wax as a photo. hehe my companions must have taken 300 pictures of our stay in hongkong. i attached one from the peak. a little blurry because of the fog.

It really depends on which part of Vietnam you are talking about. If those place would open to tourist and you are visiting the big city like Saigon, for sure it is safe. On the other hand, nobody wants to touch a tourist for if anything happen to them, their embrassy will compliant to the local government and communist countries are just afraid of pressure from outside. They will always show the tourist the good side and always keep their ugly side remain hidden. if you go to small village and the northern part of the country, you will probably see a different Vietnam.Since we are living in East Asia, we know all the dangers and the ugly side of the region and thy are just not as good as you think. However, as a tourist, I would understand who wants to get into trouble and nobody plans to stay in a foreign country for long. That's why it is always good to be a tourist and not be a local citizen.Anyway, the Hollywood Boulevard you were talking about has a Chinese name called "Star Light Boulevard " because in there you can see all the hand imprints of all the past famous movie star from Hong Kong movie History and some of them were in the 1940's as well.Of course all the tourist would looked for the one with Jet Li, Jackie Chan and the statue of Bruce Lee since they were and some still are among the most popular movie star even in the world. Well, anyway. You wanted to see a big firework show, Chinese New Year which always takes place in the early February of each year, will surely impress you more.Well, i hope you will come by again if you have time and you are always welcome to Hong Kong. Have a good day and enjoy your next trip wherever you will go.

Since Vietnam is a commumist country , I don't think it is to save to go there.Although there were some interesting photos from the travel company, I am afraid that it is just not for me. Am I living in a communist country ? Yes and no.Why? It is because Hong Kong belongs to China but still Hong Kong has lots of freedom that the people from mianland China won't has it. Just by getting into internet, the government over China will alwyas block on any site that the government might view that it is not frinedly for them. That's why the People from mianland China will always experience difficulty in enter in those site they want to visit. But In Hong Kong, we don't have this problem. But when I saw your previous visit to Hong Kong, I wlll say welcome to you.You are right that bthe Victoria Peak is a must go place for all the tourist. Otherwise, it is hard for anyone to believe that you have visit Hong Kong before. You don't have to worry about lost your direction in the peak as long as you will stay in the tram terminal area and you can ask the police or the local people at any time if you ever need help. It was fun to know that you could find your kids with the the glass planes. Anyway, I hope you can come back to th epeak soon and visit any other places that you maight feel intersting Hong Kong again. Have a nice day.

Hi, I love travelling, but too bad I don't have chance to travel often. I hope I can go for travelling at least once a year for holiday. So far...I don't have any funny experiences, but i would like to share about my experience while I was in Hongkong for my holiday. We wanted to visit Jumbo restaurant,it was pretty famous in Hongkong. We went there by bus to the jetty area, and we were looking for the jetty, we was there for about an hour and could not find the jetty because the place was under construction..the whole place looked mess up. Then we tried to ask people around there, but no one can help. After walking here and there for an hour..lastly we spotted some tourists were walking at another end...so we planned to follow that tourists steps..Oh gosh...they were going to the jetty to take boat to the JUMBO restaurant..at last we found it.We were so happy and tired... but we were glad that we managed to find that place. It was a great experience for us.

Thank you for Shia88 in sharing your experienc ein Hong Kong. Since I am living in Hong Kong right now, I surely knows what you are talking about. Jumbo Jet is actually a place for tourist and Hong Kong people don't even go there. We have been there when we were still a small kid and we understand that the sea and everything in there is just so dirty . But It was famous for it's seafood when we were young but I don't think the seafood in there is any good by now. That place is far away from downtown area as well and that's why not much of the local people will go there. Well, thank you for your visit anyway and soemtimes, you can ask some epople in their suit, those people maybe able to have better education and wil speak English a bit better. I undersatnd it is not a funny thing when lost in a foreign country especially when nobody can help you with their native language. Anyway, it isn't a bad idea to follow other tourist and I am glad you finally made it to Jumbo. I hope you can come back again for a longer period when you have time .That will help you to walk around freely and see things more about in Hong Kong. It is a small island combined three part namely Hong Kong Island, Kolwoon Peninsula and New Territory. You can always travel to lots of places by bus and by subway since the city is not big at all. But we don have over 7 million people living in such a place and thats why it is always over crowded. The personal space in here is so squeeze when compare to the other foreign country but we do treat everyone from Foreign countries much better tahn the way we treat our local people. Anyway, Tahnk you for dropping by and I hope you can come back for another visit again. Have a good day and have agood trip to wherever you go in your next journey.

We actually do have a funny experience. When we are preparing our things on our vacation in Macau, China, we have decided to just bring one jacket each and enough light clothes. Since we are from Asia and it was summer that time, we figure that it will be also hot and humid in Macau. Me and my husband even brought swimwear so that we can enjoy the pool in our hotel. We arrived at the airport and it is raining. Then we went to our hotel and slept since we have to wake up early. During the the tour, it is also raining. I told myself that I'm so unlucky because I have chose the dates of our visit and it rained. When we went back to the hotel, we have decided to visit the pool. The receptionist who greeted us went away when she learned that we want to see the pool, when she came back she has her manager with her. The hotel manager apologize to us because we can't use the pool since it is close for the winter. My husband and I didn't check the weather and thought it is just a coincidence that it is rainy. Now we know why most of the people are wearing dark clothing that time. Now, we always check the weather of our travel destination before preparing for our trip :)

In Samoa on a bus it was very funny. People sat the laps of other passengers when the bus got rather crowded. My backpack was in the gangway and someone sat down on it. I had drink cartons in it and arrived at the boat yard with a drip, drip and yet more dripping. I got a ferry over to a beautiful palm fringed island. Funnily enough for the first few days I was the only guest there. After a number of days other travelers arrived.

When I was seventeen years old and my little brother was fourteen years old we had the opportunity to travel to Italy and France. We had a several hour layover in Zurich and during that layover we all went and toured the city a little bit. Of course we hadn't really slept so while we were waiting on a train, he fell asleep on the floor of the train station. All of the rest of us joked around about putting a cup in his hand for donations but we really didn't do it. It is, however still a funny memory.

Wow, I feel happy for you when I heard that you have been Italy and France when you were still teens.I would love to visit this two country in my lofe if I have this opportunity. I don't know waht you think of when you say Italy. I will certainly think of one big good food. Pizza.Do you know that there wasa saying according to what Macro Polo the great traveller from Italy to China once did. Many people believed that Marco Polo bought the techniques in making Pizza and Spagetti From China to Italy.I am not sure whether it is true or not but it makes me feel interest about piza when I first ate this great food in Canada many years ago. I still remember that when I was in high school in Canada, I was to lazy to cook one day and ordered a big pizza with eight slices in it. I ate half of the Pizza for my lunch and another half for my dinner.I felt creased and all filled up in my stomach since I ate too much pizza in one day. Right now, I can only eat one or two slice and that's it.For France, I still rememeber my french courses in Ottawa. I took an intensive course during the summer time once. why? I needed to have that course for my university graduation since my university was (and still is)a bi-lingual University. So it forces me to learn a third kanguage with the help of my second LANGUAGE (English). It was a tough experience for me since I have no choice. But since I need to have those credit to graduate at that time, I haev to take it. It was fun to learn a language but not when you are forced to do so. I end up pass the course but still can't say too much Frnch up to now. I wish I can visit France and study more about French someday in the future.Have a good day.

Absolutely! Actually, All of my past and present trips were funny:) I love to travel but sometimes dont have the time to. So i enjoy all of my trips to the fullest. And that`s the best way for a highschool student like me:) One of the funny experiences i have is when we go to a FieldTrip and we do ALOT of team building:) It was alot of fun because it boosts my personality and talents:) I just hate the part when we need to climb a 75 ft. wall:( I cant imagine when the time comes where i need to WORK for my own living:( When that time come`s maybe there will be no fun trips anymore:( just hard works:(
