Right now India has 3 top-class Openers: Sachin, sehwag and Gambhir.
Whom do you think should open the inning in coming world cup:
1. Sachin and Sehwag
2. Sehwag and Gambhir
3. Sachin and Gambhir

I would go with the first - Sachin and Sehwag. Gambhir is very good however not very fast as Sehwag, again Sachin just need to get speed and he will do wonders.

I think Sachin playing got modified as he becomes the senior most player. and also he will make the backbone for Indian inning from where our big hitters like yousuf,raina,Dhoni make the high score.

Sachin is not just a great performance but he is the confidence of the team, when he is on the ground, others also do well.

In any way it is depend upon coach and captain,as all the 3 will be in WC squad. But my question is that according to you what should be the opener combination.

I dont agree with you. If you keep on changing openers, it will dcrease their confidence. So, it will not only plan of opposition team but also Indian team plans also.

for me, it should be mixed .
that is we should not pick same openers for every match, anyway, sehwag should be there at one side.
and gauti and sachin can be picked as openers according to the opposition.
it will help to break the plans of opposition team.
viru-gauti left right combination can be used if the opening bowlers of the team are same swingers(in swing or out swing) because for them left right combination will be disturbing one.
and in the other case it should be sachin- viru.

I prefer Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. I can't even think about anyone else for the opening slot. Sehwag is a phenomenal batsman who can demolish any bowling attack, anywhere and anytime. His ability to bashing the bowlers restlessly is simply outstanding. He's is a world class opener and can suit in any team's opening slot. Sachin Tendulkar is serving for India for the past 21 years. His contribution is simply beyond imagination and people can only live in their dreams with the feats which Sachin has already achieved. His ability to reign the game is an art which he is providing since his debut match. Gambhir is also a class batsman but the former two are several miles ahead of him. Team management too think Gambhir is better for 3rd slot in the team's batting order.

I completely agree with you. In my opinion also SAchin and sehwag combination is best and India should that one only......

Sachin and Sehwag of course.Yes Gambhir is playing well as an opener and also back in form but i would stll go for Sehwag and Sachin as both are better players than Gambhir and more experienced also Sachin is most important player for India so he has best chance of scoring big hundred for India if he plays 10-15 power play overs .

Yes, I agreed with your comments, Sachin is most experienced opener so, India should not take chance to play him lower down the order. Also he can put pressure to bowlers as well as opposition captain, he is on crease. also it will boost second player when he is playing with Sachin.

Hi saurabh,
Sehwag, undoubtedly, has to be unanimous choice for the opener's slot. we only have to decide whether it is Sachin or Gambhir to pair with Sehwag. Sachin has seen to be much more effective as an opener than one down or two down. This we had seen when he dropped himself down at the instance of selectors when he was captain. Gambhir I feel is as much effective as opener as one down so I feel best choice would be Sehwag Sachin and Gambhir as one down.

you cant forgot Sachin's experience as opener. So India should utilize that experience.
