I just saw a show (real-life) about this 16 year old girl who was hit by a hammer by her boss(woman) just because she ate the food on the table. The story: the girl's dad died, so she decided to work to send her siblings to school. At first it was okay, then her boss got jealous of her, because the husband was nice to the girl. So the woman started giving her more work, not feeding her and hitting her..
In our country lots of people are forced to stop schooling and just work for others because of financial problems- they work in houses (doing chores) and are paid a little amount. They're lucky if their boss is good, but if not, they end up in a hospital, or worse, dead..

hi laady!
they should be treated like a human being not an animal.i think if the employer get envy of the maid then she should not have to hired one.my sister had employed may maids-keep changing after a few months-they left us not because we treated them unfairly-we are good people, some left because of her family matters and some left because they already forgot the main reason they worked here-they even left my little cousins just like that.hehe..
anyway this is one of the issue that we can't have control over that.we have no idea who is the boss or the maid.the really need to gamble their lives for that.

I think they become maids because they think they have no choice- it's an answer to their financial problems... It's good to hear that many people still treat their maids fairly- it would be nice if all bosses would think of the maid as human and not just a servant.

Maltreatment of anyone is always on the wrong side of things. In the case of household help, it just shows how much power an employer has on them. It might be said that the situation is inhuman yet the perspective of the owner is that the help is the wrong party due to the help being part of the owner's household and only there to earn. More protection and right treatment should also be extended to household help because they are human and they do not deserve to treated like animals just becuase they don't hold the same position in society.
