How to use the electric painting board?

Dear mylotters. I always want to know the professional animation designers how to get the sketches in the computers. Do they use the electric painting board to draw pictures or scan the sketches on paper? I like drawing and know how to use the software photoshop. But I can't draw a good picture in photoshop. I tried to use the electric painting board which can be connected with the computers, but I think it's different to draw a picture on paper. If you know the flow how to create a beautiful picture with photoshop, please give me some suggestions. Thank you very much.

Professional animators will usually use a combination of scanned images and either a graphics tablet or a touch screen together with many kinds of 3D rendering and animation softwares to achieve the results they do. You can use a graphics tablet with Photoshop and, as with any medium, it requires a good deal of practice to achieve good results. The larger the tablet, the easier it is to use and very small and inexpensive tablets cannot give you the resolution or ease of use that a larger (say A4 size) tablet can.

Hello owlwings, Thank you for your explanation. I'm a amateur to animation. When I see the beautiful pictures which are made by photoshop. I hope I can create such pictures. But I don't know how to get the sketches. I think if I can be trained by the professional animators, i can create beautiful photoes.
