I think the most difficult moment for any soccer coach is when facing this situation..when their team goals behind, either one or two or three goals..they should able to motivate their players.. it will be harder when the time is almost finish or at least already less then 20 minutes game.. I observed some of the great coach like ferguson, hiddink able to motivate their players and made good decision about strategy and correct team substitution.. This week will be critical moment for many of the team which involve in european champion league..what do you think? what should coach do?

Its like when there is a fire, you just got to keep calm. Do everything that your suppose to do. Cold head, Warm heart. There is nothing you can do but attack, If certain parts of the field are looking a little off depending on what minute your on. Its good to have an explosive midfielder. Someone to make the train keep running. Inspiration is always key, The whole team have to have a great state of mind. This reminds me of the Liverpool comeback against Ac Milan in the Champions league finals a couple years ago.

Tactics and substitutions depend on many factors i.e. a tournament, seasonal match, bench availability, etc. It takes time to learn how long certain players need to make an impact as a substitute and each match is unique ... perhaps the best substitution is one that inspires new belief within the whole squad regardless of the emotions of the player(s) coming off?

I think a good coach will always try to calm the team first and show them all their mistakes a plan a good strategy. If i would be a a coach of them team which is 2 goals behind then i would tell the team to go on full attack because we really have nothing to loose. We are losing the game anyway so we should give it our best to try to score goals rather than defend

I think you have already given the right answer, they should be able to motivate their team. Even if they feel bad, this shouldn't be noticeable on his face. But many times the coach cannot do much during a game, his job ends when the game starts, and after the half time. During the game he can scream how he wants, but the players won't hear him. The influence he can have is to change the tactic and to make substitutions.

I don't think anybody will stay calm when they are a goal behind and the time is running out. As a manager, it is not easy to stay calm in this situation eventhough they ask their player to stay calm and keep the ball. I have some experience managing a team. I use to have my own football team. And it is not easy to be a goal down. There are always a lot of thind playing in your mind. Like," We hardly score a goal for 70 minutes, and now we are a goal down. How can I come out with a plan to score a goal or two with 20 minutes to go without conceding another goal." so by that time the coach will look at the situation and his subtitute bench. A right subs always bring the result. At the last 20 minutes, the best subs to introduce when a goal down is a a pacy players and another player with a good aerial ability. that is the most thing the tiring defender hate.

As for me, the coach should determine what formation is used by the opposition...Only by then he can decide whether he should use defensive, aggressive, or neutral stance in the play...They can also rest key players only to play the second half as that may also affect the flow of the game...In terms of motivation, it depends on the mentality of the players themselves...The coach just need to find that switch and turn it on..I believe not every coach can do that, and that makes differences..and as for me, only some coaches are given that 'ability'. Nevertheless, it also depends on the culture of the club as well...

The last thing a manager should do is to panic when their team go behind. They should stay calm and plan for a strategy to come back into the game. While the most common option is to replace defensive players with attacking ones. But this will weaken the defending and the chance of conceding the second goal is higher.
