United States

This day in history the Japanese bombed the US Navel Base in Hawaii(which was not a state in the union at that time). That was the straw that broke the US's back! The next day the United States entered World War II! My dad was 17 when this happened! He remembers that day! With techology being not what it is today, people didn't know what happen in Pearl Harbor until the next day! Most people found out in the newspapers! It is a day that will never be forgotten!

That's right. And that The U.S. entered the Pacific part and then Germany declared war on us , that got us in the Europe part. Each Dec. 7th I keep remembering how FDR Wanted us in the Europe part So much earlier! I also think about how the world would be different if Japan hadn't attacked us. Would there be separate countries in Europe? Would there be a modern State of Israel? Who knows?

All I know what keeps me from gettin angry and So Anti German is the fact that Germany got split up And there is a modern State of Israel. She is there and she isn't goin Anywhere! So I was happy to see Germany become whole again. The Only time I would get upset with my German cousins is if they didn't come to the winter Olympics, lol. I see that we Had to have WWII so that there can be a state where All Jews can call home.

Thank you for your topic. I was thinking of this because sadly I think it is become a forgoten day. I watched the CBS news last night and it was not mentioned. I thought surely the final story would be the memorial service at Pearl Harbor but nope, a muscian going barefoot was more important! I know you can ask school children what this day is and they have no idea. I know, I've asked! I was born in the 50's and I can remember doing reports about it for the day, its just not drilled in the children anymore.

I remember this day and so does the rest of my family. I hope and pray that no on ever forgets what happened because this was a time that the U.S stood strong and fought back and won. We should remember the destruction but be proud of our Soldiers. Always be proud and stand for them even if you don't support why they're wherever they are.

One does hope and pray we never forget, but just as in the 1980's we were losing the last of the WWI vets, we are losing the WWII vets, and, sadly, the schools just aren't teaching the children enough history, and all of it says out evil the United States is. Hawaii wasn't a state then - yet - but it was already on the road to being one, and this war set back the work of becoming a state by over a decade, meaning to say, that it and Alaska would've probably been states by 1950 instead of 1960.

You are right! We are losing WWII vets all the time now! That is so hard to believe that the II World War ended over 60 years ago! I hate to agree but the schools are not teaching alot of things we should not forget! That is so sad and it would be nice if that would change!

My 14 year old son knew what this day is about. He loves watching National Geographic channel and war movies and shows. He is a member of the Air Cadets is is quite interested in aviation. I heard about this day on tv the other day, otherwise I wouldn't have known...sad, I know.
