Now cleary we have three choices 1. Dinesh Karthik 2.W.Saha 3.Partiv Patel One among these three will be the backup wicket keeper for India in the coming world cup. Dinesh Karthik has been in and out of the team for a long time, and W.Saha has been the new one to enter the list. Partiv patel was the one the selectors pick in the past and dropped, now again he got chance in yesterday's match and scored his maiden fifty in ODI. according to you who will be the best choice for the backup keeper for the coming world cup? for me it should be Karthik, share your views.

I think D Karthik should be the back up wicket keeper. He deserves that position. He also have experience with him. But selectors avoiding him. i think he bats and keeps better than Saha and Patel. If Karthik is not available then only we should try Patel. Saha is waste,no use with him. He dont know how to bat.

surely, karthik is the better option. but i would rate the keeping of three with same marks, its the batting talent and batting position give karthik the advantage.

i will prefer to parthiv patel....because in the last match he played very well....even couple of wickets were fallen there then also he played attacking shots.....i read that parthiv patel was trying hard to get into team and he should get a chance for that....and karthik has never proved him whenever there was a need.....so why not to try patel.... happy mylotting

surely partiv patel is also a good option, but he is not playing in middle order, and we dont have vacant slot in opening.

Parthiv Patel, in one dayer has palyed around 11 innings and has not scored well except the yesterday's inning. If we are talking about world-cup, India need a wicket-keeper who can bat for them. Records says he has performed well in lower order. Also whenever he came to open he could not give the start which Sachin, Sehwag, Gambhir has provided. His average is merely 18 whereas Karthik is much more experienced than other two. About W Saha, we can not comment much because W Saha batting. When we talk about preformance behind the wicket, here I personally like Saha. But between Karthik and Parthiv patel again I will prefer DK. Statics are as follow: DK Mat Ct St Tests 23 51 5 ODIs 52 31 5 PP Mat Ct St Tests 20 41 5 ODIs 15 12 3 I will prefer Dinesh Karthik over Pathiv Patel

I agree , it should be Karthik , because World cup matches are very different from this bilateral series going on.In this series NZ are down and dusted so no wonder Parthiv came and scored a 50 in his comeback match. In World cup the pressure is different ,even the dedication and efforts which a team puts is different. So India needs a solid batsman as a wicket keeper too in case there is an injury to Dhoni.Saha may be played in test matches in absence of Dhoni as most of the times no 7 batsman comes on to bat , there are already 350-400 runs on the board so even if he gets out it wont hurt India much. But playing Saha in ODIs is a big risk.Take last match only, if there had been Saha instead of Tiwary i am sure he could not have survived to support Pathan , Karthik is capable of playing good innings at any position. Also he is quite experienced .Ignoring him will hurt India big time in case Dhoni gets injured

so you are totally against SAHA in WC and not that much against when it comes to PARTIV. but your option is DK. this is the most people have responded to this discussion, me too feels the same. hope DK will be picked in WC squad.

My choice for the second wicket keeper will go to Wridhiman Saha. He is talented both in keeping as well as batting. Other two have been tried and dropped. A new blood has to be given a chance. Anyway that place is going to warm the benches for most of the times as Dhoni as skipper will play almost all the games.

oh you to support SAHA! but he is not at all a good batsman. i have not seen him batting fluently in a single match(limited over cricket), It may be IPl or in ODI, he has been a big failure as a batsman.so how can we give him the substitute WK chance?

India have three choice for selecting wicketkeeper 1st is Partiv Patel 2nd is W.Saha and last one is Dinesh kartik.Dinesh kartik have ability to all round performance.like as a batsman, wicket keeper and in fielding also in keeper he give good respnse for wack up for WC in 2011.he have good strike rate...

ya surely, we have not tried the other two as fielders, so DK is also a good fielding option.

I would go with parthiv and saha has no chance . Stats from www.espncricinfo.com

actually i preferred karthik, because of the experiance he have. partiv is also playing well currently. yesterday's match partiv played superbly, and i feel that we should have given him more chances before world cup. and in keeping, i feel karthik is better keeper than partiv. saha is good keeper among these three, but i have not yet seen any good batting performance from him in limited over cricket.

i am a lil surprised that you didn't think of a certain problem before you started this discussion. but here i go. parthiv patel.hmmmm the guy played only 11 innings and more than half of them were in top 3.when asked to bat at number 7 or 8,he has been pathetic. you defintely can't open with him,if he plays, and you cannot ask somebody with such poor record lower to bat down the order in a world cup.so no use in bringing him as a back up. saha.i dont know what to say about this guy.dada said he is good enough batsmen but from all the IPL,test and ODI he has played,he doesn't seems to have a solid defence or offence. his first class batting record is not even close to ashwin's. so you can't be sure of him either. so only one guy left and he is a surprise package. just let him know that he wont be dropped from the team for one whole year and play his original game,he can be a game winner for you. he can bat from 1 to 8 in any position you want. so my guess is the selectors will give him a wild card entry into the world cup because he is capable

surely partiv patel is a good top order batsman, but we cant ignore him as he has utilised the two chances given to him. It was after a long time of 6 years partiv patel has given the chance to represent india, and he grabbed it with both hands and hit back to back half centuries, and played fairly. W.Saha, me too think that he is below power, if selectors are not going to pick him for WC squad then why do they give him chance, instead if they have given karthik more chance he could have gained more experience. W.Saha is a poor batsman, i feel same as you have written. and karthik is the one who is having the best probability to get into the WC squad.

I too support your choice of having Dinesh Karthik as the second wicket-keeper for the Indian squad in the world cup.I think technically he is really well. Also he can be placed anywhere in the batting order. Also he is a very good fielder too.I also like the way he behaves in the field. The energy he can supply to his fellow team mates is huge.

ya he is a team man. even if he is out of the 11 or as 12th man or in the playing 11 every time he will be in and around there with full enthusiasm and spirit. very good dedicated cricketer. but ifeel that his keeping should improve more. but surely he is my choice as substitute WK for WC.

I will bank my vote for W. Saha. He deserve a chance this time. The others got many chances but never impressed nor came into india's help. They failed to contribute at the crutial time. The back up is required as Dhoni can get injury at any time. The are no other specialist weeket keeper in the team.

In this whole discussion, you are the fist one to support saha. Majority is going with karthik, so i feel that it will be karthik who will make into WC squad. and Saha has also got some chances, and just look the batting performance he displayed in this limited period of cricket.

well amongst all 3,i believe karthik is most talented with bat,he can hit long shots, but he has been inconsistent & hence paying price of being out of team.parthiv is good keeper, but secondary to karthik in terms of batting.well About saha,i think its little early to judge, but looking at him upto now,he doesn't seem a batsman who can be a dangerous batsman to opposition, looks more of old fashion WK With limited batting abbilities..

ya me too feels that Saha is having limited chance as he is not a very good batsman. karthik is the best among these three and he will be india's backup keeper.
