I sometimes encounter an alert at the time of logging in to my broadband connection whcih tells that a IP Address conflict is detected some other computer . I have not got a satisfactory reply from the ISP .
What may it be like ? Is it dangerous ?

YA., its dangerous., the next thing you know, your wrong IP wll come and catch hold of YOU.. !!
Dont worry man, it looks like your ISP has allocated a static IP to two different people. OR a more probable chance is that yo are trying to use two computers att your place which have been wrongly setup.. what exactly is the problem?.. hope its not just some way of yours to earn some money?

I have been getting this alert off and on for last few days . I don't use two computers with one connection . In fact there is only one computer at my home .
You seem to have practical knowledge about internet connection .
I don't think this type of question will draw much attention and responses . Because once somebody gives the most probable solution the discussion comes to an end .
Any way , thanks for the response.

you can try downloading some tracing tools from the net.. The best practical solution is.. try switching on your computer/connection at a time that most people dont use probably a 4 or 5 in the morning.. if it works.. fine.. you dont have to disconnect.. that is just a temporary fix..
sorry about the money making comment I made...

It's o.k. It is very legitimate doubt .
But I don't know what do you mean by a tracing tool? If you don't want to respond to it , start a new discussion , I shall respond .But somehow let me know what is atracing tool .

I shall try it . But the isp people , in my city ,are unaware of simple things related to internet . They have even admitted this fact , they are bringing competent persons shortly .

I don't think someone is using my ip , because my broadband bill is within expected limit and have never crossed the stipulated limit .
Thanks for responding.
