If someone says, "I've put truth before you," do you believe him because he said it and you have faith in him or because the evidence bears him out? If it is faith, what has brought you to that faith?

it totally depends on how much you trust that person, believe is something which is born from trust..if you don't trust that person you will surely go through the evidences laid before you by him/her,and if you completely trust that person you will believe him/her just by his/her words..

That's how it should be, but I wonder how many people are too trusting.

The truth of everyone must be questioned. Beliefs must be questioned. Even long held beliefs must be questioned. Investigate it all. It is the only way to discover the real truth. If you rely only on beliefs, it is clear you don't care about the truth since not all beliefs are true.

Looking for the truth can lead you to new and exciting discoveries. Unless you know what the person is saying is the truth, challenge them. Make them give evidence. You might both learn more than you thought you knew; but when someone says, "I put truth out there," and they won't give evidence, I have to question if truth is really in them.
