I am very happy to state that I meet my reading goals for 2010. It was close, but I set out to read about fifteen books and I read about sixteen or seventeen. Some of them were good, some decent, some forgettable. Do you set reading goals for the year and have to met them for 2010?

Nope, I do not set reading goals for myself, I read quite enough anyway. Even more than I should, LOL! But good for you that you reached your goal! Well done! :)

I was pretty pleased. I'm under the impression that you can never read too much. But that's just me. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I don't really set any "reading goals", since I already read a lot (almost every night before going to bed). I kinda just have a list of books I want to read, and go on from there :)

First of all Congrats !!! Yeah it feels great when you meet your goals be it anything. Last year that 2009, I achieved my goal of reading on an average 2 books a month and actually I achieved it. But unfortunately because of so many other issues, I could achieve my goal. I set goal for me to finish at least one book extra than last year but I failed miserably. But I will start a fresh in next year 2011, and try to achieve my goals. Keep reading Happy mylotting

I don't actually set a goal for reading, but for puzles. I am a big puzzle collector so I am always working on them. My goal for 2009 was 12 and I did 15 so I pushed myself to 18 this year and I havn't quite met it I am at 17 but I am nearly done with that one and I can get done with the other one easily.

At least you set goals for something. That does give you some structure and gives you some focus as well. It is good to have something like that. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I've only read half my goal, which is 12, or minimum of one book a month. Right now, I'm on my 8th book, which I should be finishing this week. For what it's worth, I'm still glad I set a goal for myself. If I hadn't, I'd be a book hoarder rather than a reader this year.

That is so very true. If you don't set book goals, you'll just let them pile up. It really does help me really just burn through those extra books. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I don't really set a goal as to how many books I've read for a year. I do try to make a note on what books I've read especially those that I have been longing to buy and read and have been able to buy (or borrow at least) this year then I tick them off my list if I've read them already. :) There's still a lot of books I've been wanting to buy and read but I do try to take my time and when I come across them (preferably on sale) then I buy them or borrow them. :)

My reading goal for this year was to read 100 books. I've read 120, and I'm not done yet! I hope to finish all the books in my to-read shelf before the year is over, and that's another 20 books but 14 of them are the Guardians of Ga'Hoole books which are really short quick reads, and I should be able to finish all of those no problem. I've read some short books, some long book, but mostly medium-sized books. This was the first year I actually counted how many books I read all year long. Last year I counted towards the end of the year and came up with 91. Since I thought 91 books was a breeze I decided to try for 100 this year, and I thought that was pretty simple. I've read lots of great books! Not really sure that I can pick a favorite. I REALLY enjoyed The Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan, The Auralia Thread series by Jeffery Overstreet, The King Raven Trilogy by Stephen Lawhead, The Magic Kingdom of Landover series by Terry Brooks, Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins, and The Last Hunt by Bruce Coville. I re-read two books, The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle and the Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis, and I enjoyed both of those even more than the first time I read them. I enjoyed a whole lot more books, but I don't think I want to list them all. That would take forever.
