Anyone Looking To Save 3 Cats in Arizona? Free to good home

Rainbow - 4 years old, looking for home

I am looking for someone to help me save my sisters 3 cats. She is going to bring them to the pound if I can't find a home for them, and I know that would break my niece's heart. They are incredibly sweet cats (which is surprising due to the lack of human contact they have). They are currently being kept in a bathroom 24/7. They were named by my nieces, so the mom cat is Rex, dad is Tiny and baby is Rainbow (picture on this discussion). But it won't hurt at all to change their names, they probably don't know them anyways. They are all spayed and neutered, all declawed too. They MIGHT need a little litter box training, because they currently don't have one to use. They used to be litter box trained, but after being locked in a bathroom for so long without one, it may have diminished a little bit. They get along with kids, but don't really like dogs (at least not big ones). If introduced slowly they may be able to live with a small one. The cats are located in Surprise, I am in Peoria...I'm willing to travel a little bit to find them a good home. If you have any more questions about them, or want to see pictures of the other 2, please let me know! *And if it helps I will buy a litter box and bag of litter for the person who adopts them. They will also come with whatever food they have left over.* Thanks! **The picture is of Rainbow, he is 4 years old. The other 2 cats are his parents, they are both 5 years old.

Hiya lily, Right from the start I know that I cannot have Cats here in this House but if I did live near to you I would take them on. I live in a Flat in Spain and although I am so far away I feel for these kind of animals. They are all lovely Cats and I am sure someone will want them. Maybe they will be willing to go and pick them up from you if it´s a matter of distance. Hope you find somewhere for them and someone for them to be with. What a shame. See People here don´t have much room for Cats either living in Flats where the Owners just don´t allow them. Good luck anyway.xxx

Thanks for the concern. I'm willing to travel to find them a home too, I just hope that someone will want them...I only have a limited time to find them a new home. My sister is lucky I like these cats and am doing all the work to try to help them. I just wish she cared more, but animals are lower than us in her mind, and apparently don't matter as much.

Hiya lily, Did you eventually find a Home for the Cats then. As it´s been a while since I got back to you and your response. It seems to be taking me for ever to catch up with everyone. But I am getting there. If you have found them a Home then I am really glad for you and them. Take care now have a great Weekend and Christmas. xxx

Thank you Quita, I hope so too. If in 30 days (length of courtesy posting) they aren't adopted, I'm going to offer the rescue money to take them (money they would get from taking cats from a shelter).

That is nice of you. I always wish I could do more for animals. I had about a 6 week old kitten here on my porch with what I decided was his mama and I so enjoyed him playing on this porch! Gave me many smiles. But some friends brought their dog when they visited and the dog killed that kitten. I know with all the abandoned animals one kitten won't make a difference to most but it did me. I hope the cats are ok. I just wish we could all have our animals, ours and strays too spayed and neutered and stop the unwanted animals from being a problem. It is just so sad.

OH that is sad! It would have made a difference to me too. I probably would have cried my eyes out of something like that happened to me. I wish we could do more for all the animals too. And maybe one day I'll be able to make a much bigger difference to animals. One can only hope!

Dang! We used to live in Sedona, and then came up here to Canada. If we still lived down there.... I wish we still lived down there.

I'm so sorry to hear about the three precious cats. And, I know others have said that before, but I wanted to add my sentiments. I'm not sure if she would have gotten rid of them by now. I wish I could take the cats. I hate the idea of sending cats to shelters where they get killed. Right now, we are in the Deep South, which is light years away from your area, otherwise I'd take them and provide a happy home. I'm sure my spouse would freak out, cause we have four cats already. As for the cats peeing on everything issue, they really do that. When I lived in a house with no carpets and only stone tile floor, it wasn't a problem. But, once we moved into our current place, the cats started using the carpets as their own personal pee pee litter box. The behavior feeds itself, in that when one cat pees anywhere in the house, the pee smell is on the carpet or walls. And, then other cats will come by and pee in that spot. And, just out of competition, other cats will go pee in their own personal spot. It can be very frustrating for someone who doesn't really love cats to deal with. I don't know why she doesn't put a litter box in the bathroom with the cats. I guess she didn't want to. Sometimes, cats have to be quarantined into a bathroom or seperarate room like when we have guests or need to keep the door open to move stuff in and out of the house. But we always provide a litter box. And, it's usually just temporary like for an hour. Keeping cats pent up in a room is not really a long term solution. She would do better to just open the door and let the cats roam free in the neighborhood. At least, there's a tiny chance someone would find the cats and open up their hearts. I had to turn one of my cats out last year after he bit my daughter on the hand. I don't like the idea of turning a cat out, but he's been much happier being an outdoor cat (with indoor feeding privileges) ever since. He does very well.

Well we visited my sisters house on Thursday, 2 days before Christmas, and the cats were out of the bathroom! AND my sister had gotten them a litter box, which my niece informs me they are using! The only problem now is my sisters dog chases the cats, and if he had his way he would hurt them. He's a puppy that needs training, but I'm not sure my sister is going to get that done or not. It wouldn't surprise me if he kills one of the cats...he's a puppy and he wouldn't do it to be mean, he just needs training! thank you beauty :) *4 cats! Sounds like us! At one [oint we had 7 cats and 4 dogs, among other things! We are now down to 3 cats and 3 dogs.

Is there any chance that you can turn them over to a no kill rescue? Why is your sister giving them up anyway? And why are they locked in the bathroom?

Between you and me, my sister should not have any living things, she doesn't care about anything as herself and her new boyfriend...she says they pee all over the house if they aren't in the bathrooms, even if that's true, they can be trained. Last but not least she says she can't afford them anymore (which is crap). I asked the rescue I volunteer with to take them, but they can't. They are going to list them on their website for 30 days, but that's all they can do.

I feel exactly the same way. If I could take the cats I would in a fraction of a heartbeat. Apart from my Persian, they have the greatest personalities ever.

I'm sorry to hear that. I really dislike people who take on animals and then can't be bothered to take care of them. :-(
