We all have been told that music is food for the soul and for centuries, our kind has been attracted to music in many different forms. There are different genres of music like rock, pop, jazz etc and we have famous singers like Michael Jackson, backstreet boys etc which we all know about. But what some of us do not know is that music can have rather bizarre effects on our body which according to science and the researchers have really been proven. These are some effects on the part of the body where music can affect it, where we would never see it coming. 1)On the immune system-Listening to music can actually increase your immunity and give you a better fighting chance when you suffer from diseases like common cold or asthma. This is because your favorite song can apparently reduce a stress causing chemical in your brain known as cortisol and it can if you really enjoy the song, it can actually increase the production of of antibodies in your system and due to the reduced cortisol, you can feel more stronger when you suffer from a disease and along with your favorite song, can maybe even stand the pain.Who would have thought that besides the complicated medication and hospital bills, simply by listening to your favorite singer you can have a stronger immune system?. 2)On the memory-Next time you forget your your twitter password or forget where you have put your car keys, listen to your favorite hits as there is a chance that you may suddenly remember those lost memories.Studies have shown that your favorite song affects a part of the brain known as the Hippocampus which is the region responsible for long and short term memories of your brain and so you can get a sudden flash of your lost memory when you do that. 3)On the IQ-Yes it is true, reports have shown that students who frequently listen to music have shown a higher increase on their academic performance than the other students because when you listen to quality music it stimulates both the right and left hemispheres of the brain where the right side deals with logic, the left side deals with more of intuition so the combined effect well help bring out your logical and inuitive skills together which can boost up your IQ and make you little more smarter. 4)On the body-A research in Australia show that listening to music when cycling or jogging can increase your stamina and endurance by 20%.This is because when you play songs it tunes your brain better and helps it to absorb more energy and and increases the oxygen output from your brain by 3-4%.So it next time you go for a walk or jog, dont forget your ipod!

Informative discussion!. I've never known that there were so many good effects associated with listening to music! Well, I listen to smooth jazz and I started liking jazz since high school. Jazz helps to relax my mind as the music is cool and relaxing as the beat is soft to the ears. I listen to jazz when I take naps and trust me, I can sleep really well listening to it and while listening to it, I can sleep through a straight 2 to 3 hours.
