Does it seem to you, as it has to me, that the partisan infightng between the Democrats and Republicans has become so embattled and bitter that they can't get anything accomplished together? I noticed previous to the financial decline that between the two parties, issues had become so embattled and laced with sneaky, underhanded, dirty dealing designed to undermine whatever the other party was in support of. It seems to me that very little is getting accomplished on Capitol Hill, the focus of both parties seems to be the bitter victory of triumphing over the other party on some issue near and dear to them. They are certainly making some poor decisions regarding our finances and the GOP is openly talking about all the stuff that Obama has managed to push through and how they are going to reverse all of it when they take the White house in 2012. Don't they recognize that their constituents need them to stop posturing, and spouting Party lines and rhetoric long enough to help the common people before it all runs down the drain? Can they not see that we need them to work together regardless of their differences and rivalries to get this country back on track before we pass the point-of-no-return?

You are right. It is time for the phony bipartisan nonsense to stop. Come January I think the Republicans should dig in hard and not compromise on anything. Any compromise by the Republicans toward the leftist position marks failure and is definitely the wrong way to go. Republicans should use the Pelosi/Reid technique and just ban the other party from participation in the important meetings. I appreciate your thought that our elected leaders are not doing their job and they waste lots of time on formalities and nonsense, meanwhile being content to let problems get worse. But now is the time for Republicans to play hardball.
