Recently I decided to re-read one of my favorite upbeat fantasy trilogies, the Bartimaeus series written by Jonathan Stroud. It's ranks high on my list because of its witty lead character, djinni Bartimaeus and the fact that the story telling is funny, fast paced original, unexpected and absorbing. Every fantasy novel has its own style, and this one is FUN. Something you can come back to and read over and over again. I wish Mr. Stroud would start a new Bartimaeus series, with different protagonists, maybe even set in different times or worlds. Endless possibility in the realms of fantasy, right ;) In fact, if this discussion goes well (i.e generates sufficient interest) we could even start a petition requesting the author to consider it! So discuss with me this: 1] Have you read this trilogy, if yes, do you like it enough to wish the author would write more Bartimaeus tales? 2] If you haven't read them, is it because you didn't know of them or because you are not a fantasy fiction fan? 3] Share your favorite fantasy novels, series, authors in a few sentences for the benefit of other readers, maybe we can discover new treasures that way! 4] Rate the Bartimaeus trilogy on a scale of 10 Please feel free to share your thoughts on this subject, and on fantasy and fiction literature in general. Thanks for stopping by, and have a nice day :)
