Holiday Bonus?

I work 2 jobs. My main full time job does not give a bonus though my boss usually gives me a 25 dollar gift card for Christmas. My second part time job, however, does give out bonuses. I just got a check for 257 dollars which will really come in handy for gifts and bills! Gone are the days when companies gave lavish and generous gifts and bonuses. Does your company give you anything? How about a turkey or ham?

We do not get holiday bonus' @ my part time job. If we get a certain amount of solicitations from our customers we got an entry into a drawing for a pumpkin pie. For every 3 we got an entry for a thanksgiving turkey. Seeing most people are thankful for one soliciatation and others who have the knack to get them usually win such things. I'm only there a handful of hours so I do what I can but never expect to win a drawing with such stiff competition.
And that is my only bonus' other than when they have certain days where the store pays for food.... but I'm not usually there so it doesn't matter to me.
I miss my old job in this respect because we used to get a bonus that was up to a months worth of salary!

I miss the pay, the paid holidays, and that bonus... the rest HECK NO! Tons of back stabbing going on there especially out of management. Lets just say things were ok til I got pg w/ my oldest and after that I was treated like I was incompitent began the downward spiral there.

We should all remember that this are hard tines now. We should all be grateful that we have our jobs. Our company did not give out anything this year but it is just alright for us considering the hard times.

WoW that is great that you get 2 bonuses! I think that the $257 will help you out alot this holiday season. I work as an independent contractor for several different places so no bonuses for me. My fiance will not get a bonus either that I know of. This is his first year with the company so I do not know if they give out hams or turkeys or anything of that nature. They are getting 11 days off at Christmas and 7 of those days will be paid days. I guess that is somewhat of a bonus. They also gave a Thanksgiving dinner & a Christmas dinner to all the employees while they were at work. Had them both catered. Perhaps we will receive a ham as well.

hi trvlarrngr,
Well, it is better than to have nothing at all. I also received my Christmas Bonus. It is quite big but no matter how big it is, still not enough to finish the renovation of our house. Anyway, I am still thankful that I got the bonus and now, we are able to buy materials and ask some people to work here. I hope that before New Year, our house will be ok. I think that because of economic crisis that is why companies cannot give bigger amount as a bonus.
We cannot do anything about that. We just have to be thankful that we are still blessed we have jobs to help us in our daily needs like foods, paying bills, clothing, etc. Happy holiday !

Good old ways of life are disappearing fast in our life. Some of the good employers have surrendered their good values to the greedy nature of the new generations. Most of the companies have adopted new policy. "If you want stick around or get lost" policy. So the ball is in our court now.

That is so true. Companies are more concerned with their bottom line now. I have heard it at my company too - if they don't like it - they can leave. We all know how hard it is right now to get a job so everyone is stuck. Hopefully everything will turn around again. Happy Holidays!

My company doesnt give anything, and I have never worked anywhere where they have given you any sort of bonus. Your boss must be happy with you to give you that check! Well done and hope you enjoy spending it!

My last job gave me $1500 in a visa gift card which was a great bonus indeed. Prior to that job I received $4500 check and that made my Christmas for sure. Now I am not working and miss my perks but just wanted to add enjoy your lovely gift as a gift is a gift indeed especially when you earned it for sure.
Merry Christmas to you and all your loved ones.

I am a government employee and they give bonuses. We have 13th month pay (equal to 1 month pay) and cash gift (P5,000 or around $150) that are divided in 2 payments, May and Nov. 15. I used the amount given on May for my kids tuition fees. The other half is for paying bills, buying gifts and for my children's things. I will also receive an additional bonus on Dec. 15 (P10,000 or around $300) as a performance bonus of all permanent and casual govt. employee. This will go to renewal of our car's insurance and maintenance.

I don't get any sort of financial bonus, but we do get food treats like a turkey or ham to take home. We also usually get lunch provided for us while we're working. That's fine by me, as I'd prefer bonuses companies give out to be merit based rather then something that is just done.
