hi friends.
a lil curious.
pretty much everybody thinks that scoring a 300 + runs or even a 400 runs will be a hallmark for sachin tendulkar.
so i did a research and found this.
24 times a score or 300 or above was scored by an individual out of which 7 of them were during those timeless test matches that went on for days.
of the remaining 17,only 6 times did a 300 + score yielded a result.
in other words,a 300+ score is pretty much more of an individual achievement rather than teams victory one out of every 3 times.
do you want to see another one of those 300+ scores where the match ends in a draw?

Whenever Virender Sehwag scored his triple hundred it was entertainment for audience because he deals with sixes and fours. Same was the case when Mathew Hayden hit his triple hundred and that match Australia won. Now a days most of the test matches are result oriented rather than those tame draws like in the past. So, test cricket has become more interesting and more and more players are stroker makers rather than waiting for those loose balls come there way to hit a four or six. That is the intensity which is coming these days in the test match due to ODI's and T20 formats. I don't mind if Tendulkar gets to personal best of 300+ but if his innings takes to a draw instead of India winning match then captain will obviously will not wait for Sachin's triple hundred, team management usually gives certain time to score and if that time is finish then they will declare the innings. if the pitch is flat and bowlers or not getting any help then there is nothing wrong for an individual to get his personal best score of 300+ runs.

A 300+ score makes sure for that team that they will not lose that match.
And If a player scores 300+ runs like Sehwag the test will creat result.
making 300+ runs in 500 balls makes the test towards no result.
So strike rate is also a factor.
So dont say 300+ scores will make the test towards draw.

it is never easy to score a triple century in test matches so i do not think if it matters whether it has been scored in a winning cause or a drawn test. of course it is better when it comes in a winning cause but sometimes a draw is as good as a win. imagine if it is the fifth test of the ashes test tied at 1-1. pietersen scores a triple century. it means they england cannot lose the test match and will be able to retain the ashes. you have forgotten to mention that a 300 plus score almost ensures that a team does not lose a test match.

If a player like Sehwag hits 300 there are always posibilities to have a result in the test match because he scores runs from as many balls faced. But there are many players who takes almost four times ball for a run, which seems killing most of the precious time in the test match because it is not so easy to hit fours and sixes in every overs. Plus there are always risk to play big shots. So most prefer singles and let the loose balls for mere a boundary. They think about their own record not his team. The bowlers some times need more time to scalp all the wickets but they fail to get for the triple centurion. So most of the time it leads to a dull draw. The match where Lara scored 400 went for a draw. He took almost more than 2 days to register 400 runs. But Sehwag's strike rate is above 90, and the last triple centurion is Gayle whose strike rate was good but failed to produce a result in the match

Making a 300 by a player and still winning a match is only possible for teams who have players like Sehwag, Gayle or Hayden who play attacking cricket.Sehwag made a 300 on some 310-320 balls which is very fast.Normally in test cricket players take 310 balls to score 150 odd runs. Most of the 300s made in international matches were made on flat tracks , making flat tracks which help batsman in making 300 is not good for cricket at all.Pitch should be helpful to both batsman and bowlers .Test matches end in a draw when 300s are made is because batsman uses more than 500 balls to achieve this, that means almost 90 overs.T20 cricket can never be more popular than test cricket if test matches produces results .300s cant save test cricket from dying.
