Is it worth me carrying on?

I am a four star writer on Helium and have about 300 articles; however I have never written articles for the MArket Place. With this change to the payment system in Helium, is it going to be worth writing 'normal' articles or am I just wastiung my time? I am pretty confused about it all - I was earning around $50 - $60 a month prior toi the change, but the vast majority of that money was in upfront payments and empty title payments - now these are going it will only give me an earning 0f around $8 - $10 a month. Do I still get the $3 rating payment? And is there any advantage at all in continuing to write articles that are not in the Market Place? All advice gratefully received!!

I'm thinking the same thing, mandywilks. Is it worth it writing normal articles for Helium? I've never tried marketplace titles as the titles are so difficult to write to and I hate the competition. But at least Helium is still paying for performance payment and the rating bonus is still being paid out. This is my understanding from the discussion board at Helium. I'm really going to have a bad start for the new year. Bukisa's not paying anymore. And Helium has effectively discontinue upfront payment. I can understand Bukisa's reasoning but Helium's decision seems to be more self-serving.

I'm in the same position UmiNoor, I have tried a couple of Market Place articles but whether they will be accepted I have yet to see. This willmake reak difference to my earnings with them.

Yes oldchem and mandywilks, a lot of people will be affected. And the people who will benefit most from this is probably Helium as they don't need to make large payout.

Hello, Mandy. We keep bumping into one another today, don't we? If you're a 4 star writer, your writing is good enough for MP, even though you may find it challenging at first. Remember, the Helium articles in MP are the same as you were writing to before, but the standards bar has been raised. Check your first draft carefully for typos, grammar and spelling, and read your articles out loud so you can pick up phrases and sentences that don't read well. It's worth building up your writing portfolio, because as your content increases, so will page views. And target writing to channels that get lots of page views, such as health & fitness, personal finance, style & beauty and computers. The ratings bonus still applies as long as you have 5 rating stars. Make sure you write at least 3 pairs of articles each time you write, and that should maintain your stars. Hope this helps.

Hello, Erikmama. It's not just one title that gets paid - all those that transition get a smaller credit, and it's not necessarily limited to 5 articles. It does mean a drop in income, but it doesn't look as if it will be as big a drop as we first feared. The thing is, there's nothing out there paying better at the moment.

I am in a very similar situation Mandy, and like you wonder should I still write regular articles. I'm not sure about the $3 rating payment either sorry!! Perhaps things will come a little clearer in the coming weeks, I have tried a couple of Market Place articles I am just waiting now to see if they are accepted or not! Good luck with your Helium !
