Indian expatriates in the United Arab Emirates dominated the population among other nations such as Pakistan, Philippines, Bangladesh and even the Emirati themselves. Currently, there are roughly 1.75 million Indians in the UAE and majority of them are residing in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. They are and working in different sectors while others established their own businesses. Some of them were direct hired from India and few entered the country as visit visa and eventually landed a good job and chose to work for years.
Despite the economic downturn in UAE, expats particularly Indians are constantly growing in the country and many still managed to find better job with better remuneration package. Thus they chose to stay for long years with their family as they also find it safe and secure place to live with. Although it's not as boom as 3 years back, the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi still offers great attractions and tourist spots such as Ferrari world theme park in Abu Dhabi, Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Wild Wadi, Dubai Mall & Dubai Marina to name a few. No wonder even if racial discrimination is prevalent they still embracing the country as their second home.
Hopefully the authorities will be able to see the contributions of the expats in the development of their economy.
