Speed reading method brings many advantages for everyone. By reading the sooner we can find the entire book in a short time. This is very advantageous for us that requires a lot of information, but do not have plenty of time to read. To be able to read quickly, there are specific techniques that must be mastered. Indeed, not everyone will immediately advanced to speed reading. This skill requires practice which may be up repeatedly for someone to master the proper techniques in speed reading. These exercises are considered important to do because usually someone who first learned to read faster will meet some problems that could become an obstacle in a speed reading.

I like reading a lot and yes I can read fast. But speed reading without comprehension is not reading at all. So I think the most important thing is for the person to comprehend what he or she is reading before becoming a good speed reader.

I agree with that too. Without understanding what you're reading, whatever your mind retains would likely be gibberish. Only when you understand your stuff then would your mind be able to register what you've just read.

It also has disadvantages... Like for example, not totally digesting and registering what you're reading - beacuse you're reading so fast and not taking time to understand things. But this is kind of important with textbooks and when you're in school - skipping through the stuff that doesn't matter, making notes of key words, phrases, and concepts rather than trying to read and understand every single thing.

I think that's not totally true. For people who are starting out in speed reading, and have not mastered the techniques, they would not be able to absorb much of what they read. But then, people who have mastered the techniques well are able to retain much of what they have read even after reading at such a high speed. That's what I heard.

I think I'm not a good speed reader. I am the type of the reader who likes to sit down with a book and absorb the information, by taking it all in. The only time that I read sped read was when I had one of those pieces of literature for school that really bored me out of my skull and did not want to spend too much time reading it but that was more of an exception than the rule

In do love speed reading but never took it seriously. I believe there are some programs (paid ones) that can teach us how to speed reading. When I was younger, I know this program that sells like 300-500 bucks which enables us to read each page within 2 seconds. So that is F-A-S-T!

I don't like speed reading. Though it's good for people who are always on the go, in a rush, speed reading is a skill for them to acquire. When normal people liek us, don't bother about speed reading because it does not help us to memorize things at all. I would prefer to read slowly, get the whole story and understand the meaning behind everything. Look deeper into it rather than the surface of things.

I naturally read very quickly. This was sometimes a pain when I was in school, since I was expected to read things along with the class, and I couldn't make myself read at the same pace as everyone else. However, I really appreciate it now. I'd never have the time to read for pleasure if I wasn't able to read quickly!

Our professor thought us to do that kind of skills. I agree with you that when you have mastered the speed reading techniques then you can read more books in a day or a week. The bad on my part i didn't take the lesson to seriously.lol.. So later when i discover how it is important on my college of law life, i did enroll again on that class.lol. .. i hope guys you would love to develop that skills, more so if you have the love of reading, it wil save you time and give you more knowledge.

Speed reading can be useful if time is an issue. Sometimes people lose something in speed reading. They may not comprehend everything they need from what they read. they may end up haaving to read the information again.

I was reading a book on speed reading and I was fascinated with the techniques they suggested in it. I can not write the complete book here but all I want to say is that it contained some very good tips and knowledge.
