I'm not the trendy tree sort of person we have fairy lights, candy canes and an odd assortment of decorations - some that the kids have made and their first christmas ones, it makes the tree so much more personal to me. My sister alyas has a 'themed'tree - this year it is black, silver and lilac - yes it looks beautiful but mine means so much more to us!!

I like all kinds of decorations on my tree. The best decorations though are the ones the kids made to hang on the tree. Usually every year the teachers have them make a christmas tree ornament that gets hung on the tree. They add sentimental value to our little tree and decorate it up so pretty! We hang our stockings somewhere else in the house and fill them with candies and trinkets :)

Your comment has turn up my creativity on decoration of a Christmas tree.I think I can make thousands of mini-me (a picture of my baby look with all kinds of baby clothing)and hang it on the tree. But on the top of the tree, I can put a big big and flashing label of Jesus on it. This is a reminder that we are so self-centered at all times in our life. But when it comes to face Jesus, all about ourselves will be come so small when compares with the king of Glory at the top of the christmas tree.I really think that Jesus should always be the focus in Christmas but not us , then the true meaning of christmas is truely revive.Look at the shopping mall today, we can hardly see anything related to the birth of Jesus in their decoration.Without Christ Jesus, then there won't be any christmas. It is aday that man can truely celebrate with all the angels from heaven. We need to give a big clap offering to Jesus who came to this world to save us from sin with the biggest scarifies that God could make to us. He gave His only begotten son, just wanted to save the sinner(us) from the eternal fire of hell.He should always be the master and main focus of the great season.I don't know why people tends to ignore him all the time. perhaps this celebration is really sinking and they just don't know what they are doing all the times. The world needs to be wake up and starting to go back to where the original story of Christmas was.Anyway, have anice day and a happy Christmas with a beautiful Christmas tree.

Putting up the Christmas tree in our house has always been fun because me and my family would help each other decorating it. My husband and I bought some gold and silver Christmas balls, my brother was in-charge for the Christmas tree lights, my mother made some big, gold ribbons and my son put tinsel all over the tree. We already have some presents underneath to give to family and friends. We also put a big star on top of our Christmas tree, and we all love it! :)

The vast majority of the ornaments that we have on our Christmas tree are ornaments with some kind of sentimental value. We have ornaments that commemorate the birth of our children and our anniversary. Also there are the ornaments that the children have made that we put on our tree as well. I know that it might get gaudy as the children get older, but I really like that putting up the Christmas tree is like a reminder of our memories.

I like to see simple decorations on my Christmas tree. Too much just takes away from the beauty of the christmas tree. Simple can be elegant.

I hate glass balls. Once I had glass balls. As my children were small they have broken them in day to day manner. Now they have been grown up a bit. Still i will not buy balls. I have lot of small smaties boxes. I am going to wrape them by silver or gold papers. then i will tie them with red color cords. Then I will hang them on the tree. if I hang lot of small boxes it will be seen beautiful.Actually I don't like to spend much money on these sort of things.

I have a small choir boy ornament which goes on the tree every year. My grandmother had a large Christmas tree which she would bring in and decorate and then return to the garden each year. When I was very young I asked if she had ever accidentally left decorations on when she put it outside. She replied "If you can find anything on there you can have it to keep" I found the choir boy.... he is now over 50 years old.

Since we have only had a tree for the last 4 years, we don't have a huge assortment of decorations... I only bought one when my son came along - never went to the bother before! We like lots of lights, and I really like ornaments to be sparkley, so ones with glitter are favorites! Every year, we buy a new set of ornaments to add to the tree, and every year, we MAKE one. We have 2 styles; ADULT and CHILD! The adult ones are glass, fragile or personal favorites from childhood;these go from the middle up... The child ones are bells, plastic/unbreakables, and these go from the middle down... We don't use tinsel or garland - too messy and dangerous. We like ones with moving parts, ones that are somewhat old fashioned, and ones that are easy to assign memories to.

I'm afraid that I'm not one of these 'designer trees' type where there is a set colour scheme. The decorations on my tree tell the history of my family life, there are all my five children's 'First Christmas' baubles, decorations that they made at school (some over 30 years old now. I have a couple of lovely glass decorations that my German midwife who delivered my third daughter (Carol was born on the 28th December 1976) I wouldn't part with any of these decorations they are my life. The oldest one is one that I bought in 1962 at the Christmas Fair at my grammar school, it was second hand then so is probably about 60 -70 years old. It is a tiny little Santa on a sleigh, it's very tatty ( especially as since I moved to a small cottage and keep my decorations in an outside shed we had mice who took up residence and they ate his hat!!)but it just wouldn't be Christmas without him there!!
