Were you ever accused of something and you were innocent?

The news in the Philippines has been about Hubert Webb and the decision of the Supreme Court acquitting him and his co-accused. Without delving into whether he is innocent or guilty, what would you feel if you were innocent and imprisoned for 15 years because you were wrongly accused? To some that would be hard to comprehend, and to make it easier, what have you been accused of? Not necessarily criminal in nature but have you ever been seriously accused of committing anything when you were innocent?

Yeah, something that could have lost me my job, thankfully I think people saw I was innocent. Money was going missing from the office, and there was only a few people who it could have been, in the end I told the manager to put hidden camera's in there, as in most of the companies offices they did have camera's, ours was the only one that didnt. I dont know whether they did put them in as I never saw them (I guess that is the point of hidden camera's lol). I did go in there once with another person who worked there and made a point of looking around, when she asked me what I was looking for I said I thought they might put a camera in, she got really annoyed and said she didnt want to work in there if she was going to be watched as it made her feel uncomfortable, I said I didnt care as I had nothing to hide. Her reaction made me wonder! Anyway I did end up quitting, partly because of the accusations going around and I didnt feel I was trusted there, the good news is (well good news for me, not the company) even after I left I heard money was still going missing! So people figured out if it had been me then it would have stopped when I left, nobody apologised to me but they did say that they wished I would come back (yeah right). Its so hard to work in that environment, knowing that people think this of you, Im glad they all realised that it wasnt me, however I would have appreciated an apology from those that thought it was me, they all had the nerve to speak about me behind my back but nobody had the nerve to admit they were wrong to me. Oh well, these things are sent to make us stronger right?

I'm glad that you were vindicated. It is hard burden to carry especially when you know you are innocent. And no don;t go back there unless they install hidden cameras and pay you triple you current salary! It really is easier to work in an environment where you know you are welcome.

If it affected your chances of getting another job that would be bad! I'm glad it worked out well for you. Most people have something against having everything they do watched by their mangers and employers. It as if there is no trust, but if there was actually a problem within the organization and everybody knew about it, anyone who is innocent would have accepted it to vindicate themselves. I know where you coming from and I understand the difficulty you went through it must have been really hard for you especially since you come from a small town where almost everybody knows you.

Well the place has shut down now, what wasnt nice was all these people that I had worked with for years suddenly thinking that I could do that, you think you know people and then they all turn their backs on you. It did make me wonder why that other person had that reaction to the hidden cameras, whereas I would have welcomed them, I even told everyone that if they doubted me then they could come in the office with me and watch me. I live in a small town and this could have stopped me from getting another job, as everyone knows each other and everyone talks to each other so this could have gotten around and put the doubt in other peoples minds. I think people need to think hard before they go accusing people, it can destroy lives, thankfully it didnt destroy mine.

When I was in the military in Europe, I was accused of a couple different things. Actually one time was my platoon sargeant in basic training. I was accused of saying something in a a civilian in a beauty salon. There was a description given and the platoon sargeant jumped on it and accused me. I cried so hard. Cause basic is extremely plus stressful. The others girls in the platoon all told her it was not me. I didn't get my hair cut, I went to a department store with some of them and bought a wig. She eventually found out she wrongly accussed me. Another time was when I was in the Military and was in a high security office one night on duty. If you allowed anyone in, you were responsible for anything that might happen. My bestes friend who also worked for that department, came in that night and damaged some federal communicating equipment by dripping paint all over it. She was upset with the sargeant over us. I had a formal memo placed in my file, until I told her to speak up. She did.

Wow you were in the Military? Are you retired no or still in service? Its great that your platoon stood up for you and your best friend admitted her wrongdoing. But still it is a pain having that memo in your record.

Hi. shattered. I would feel very bad to go to jail for something that I did not do. I would want to sue the entire prison! I have been accused of stealing my cousin's money out of his piggy bank. It was not me that had done it, it was my cousin. I was still accused because my aunt wanted us to automatically believe that I was the one that stole from her. But this time, it was not me at all. Let them accuse you because you already know the entire truth.

I don't think being accused would sit well me, especially when I know I am innocent. Then again I have grown up some and have learned to let some accusations go. But of course there a limit to what I can take right?

I have not ever been accused but I can tell you that here in the US it does happen daily. I do know people who that because they did not have money they were not able to defend themselves and were treated as if guilty from day one. I do not believe our justice system is fair as unless you have money you get the raw end of the deal. As I mentioned I know people who have had to take pleas simply because they did not have more money for private personal defense. Where as a person with money gets a way lighter load so as long as they have the money they end up fine. Such a shame.

It really is hard when justice can be bought. If not bought entirely delayed to the point that it has become ineffective. Wow plea bargain when you are innocent? but at least they have the opportunity to do plea bargaining! In some jurisdictions plea bargaining is not allowed.
