The Move

You may have noticed I've been absent from myLot for a few weeks now. I can't begin to tell you how much I miss everyone and posting and reading all of the discussions here! I've recently moved and I'm currently going stir crazy as I wait for my internet and digital cable to be installed! I had absolutely no clue it would take this long or I'd have made arrangements ahead of time. It's sure been a major change for me, I can tell you that much! I had spent many years living in the home that had been my parents', caring for my mother until she passed away two years ago and then I'd remained in the home, which was now mine, since then until we could get everything taken care of. Meanwhile, my husband and I had sold our house because it was getting too difficult to maintain two households as well as help our daughter who suffers from Crohn's and is on a very limited income. Also, my mother-in-law died ten months after my mother so my husband has been staying in her apartment, which is where I am now. I love my hubby dearly and we just celebrated our 41st anniversary on Monday, but it's been quite an adjustment for both of us since we hadn't actually lived under the same roof full-time for about eighteen years! He's a total neat-freak - think Felix Unger on steroids - and I'm a pack-rat. He's turned into an "early to bed, early to rise" kind of guy and I'm, as most of you know, a night-owl extraordinaire. Throw my five kitties into the mix and you've got some major lifestyle changes to deal with...lol! All things considered, I'm doing quite well. At least, I WILL be once I get my internet, my premium movie channels and my DVR. If I didn't know it before, I certainly know now that BASIC CABLE SUCKS and I have no idea how I survived before the internet was invented; thank you, Vice President Gore...lol! One adjustment that's been kind of rough for me is that since I'm now "out in the boonies" it's not so easy to run to the store at any time of the day or night. It was nothing for me to go to my local Giant Market or Sheetz at 2 or 3 am but now I'm about a half hour away from anything other than a tiny convenience store. Actually, I'm only about ten minutes from Shickshinny, but there's not much there and nothing that's open 24 hours. Also, having take-out delivered is now out of the question since nobody delivers up here. Oh, well, I guess that's what I have my husband for, right? My internet will be installed on December 15, sometime between 9 and 5 - don't you just love the cable companies...lol? After all this time, I'm not going to complain, though. Annie

Thanks, it's really great to be back! Getting my internet and good cable and DVR just might save one or both of our lives...lol! Seriously, it's not so bad but I'm having a hard time adjusting to the quiet here. After spending all those years on the main street which is actually part of US-11 the silence is absolutely deafening. Annie

I have always lived in the burbs. The only noise I hear is the noise I make! Hang in there.

I was beginning to wonder if you had called mylot quits, but it is good to see that you are back. The political page has been missing your political point of view. Moving on to more important thing, I just wanted to pass on my congratulation for your 41st wedding anniversary. What an accomplishment since most marriages never come anywhere close to that many years these days.

Welcome back, Annie. I actually did notice your absence, but fear not there have been others to combat my opinionated comments. You really have been dealing with a lot of transitions in your life. Congrats to you and 'Felix' on your 41st! Wow, that is tremendous. I truly suspect that over 41 years you a wealth of experience from which to draw the 'know how' for dealing with these transitions. Hope you will enjoy living out in the wilds. People who live in the midst of the 'convenient' shopping get spoiled and lazy in their planning. (How often have I made a trip to the store for a couple things!) I am sure you will soon adjust to your limited options and plan accordingly. It is also good to hear that you will have a good internet connection. Used to be that people living out of the city had fewer options for internet access. We can hardly live without it now, as your recent 'trial' has no doubt proved. Have a wonderful day!

I knew there was a reason I respected and loved your strength and character! 18 years of not actively living with your husband so you could take care of your mother and daughter? I am in awe.

Welcome back!! Regardless of our very diverse political differences I have missed you. Your life in the "boonies" will take some getting used to but I am sure you will adjust with time.

I've missed! I guess I missed the discussion about moving. I would love to catch up but my baby is sick and in the hospital and I have to head back there after showering and getting the others off to school. I'm glad you're back and I'm sure I'll be "seeing" you soon lol
