As you would know, aging senior citizens might getting deteriorated with their ability to see and judge on the road while they are driving. So, my question is, without taking away their privilege of driving and independence, should they be tested regularly to determine whether or not they are fit in driving while not hurting themselves and other people the same time? I am not discriminate against aging citizens at this point. I just saw on the road, sometimes, they are a little bit of off road, and I just concern about this.

This is a hard tricky subject to get into. I don't think there is a right answer without upsetting somebody somewhere. What is really a shame is elderly people who have no family to take care of them when the point comes they shouldn't be driving. I know when my grandfather got to the point he shouldn't be driving we told him. He was pretty stubborn about it but his medical conditions created a very unsafe driving environment for him, and anyone driving around him. It is just a shame that families aren't always there to step in and help out. I think if I were 90 years old, and my family expressed concern about me driving I would take it a lot better than having to abide by some mandated law singling out old people.

It was just my concern, and I didn't mean to upset somebody here. I just want everybody drive safe on the road.

Hi there. I don't agree on that for some reasons. Yes maybe due to age, their skill of driving might drop some but this does not male them terrible drivers. I feel everyone has to play a role in this matter to make the road safer for all. I also believe that senior citizen should not be tested unless they are really passed certain age limit like 70 or 80.

Only if every driver has to undergo the same testing! There are lots of young drivers who are careless and reckless even with all their faculties. So unless it's an across the board testing it really isn't fair to single them out!

Personally I feel all drivers today should be tested regularly as it really doesn't matter the age but driving today can be a very serious thing. It may be an inconvenience but personally we could perhaps save many lives the way people are driving today.

Hmmm well they do sometimes go a bit slower. Bear in mind there are alot of senior citizens that are very fit and are very good drivers. I think that if S.Citizens are checked regualrly by a GP and that GP has concerns then they should get a re-test. Mind you there are many people who are terrible drivers and it's a wonder how they pass. These people should be forced to redo their test along with getting fined if they have done it several times
