Don't you think the dealer overcharge sometimes?

I knew that those dealers might deliver a reliable work, and the cost for customers just ultra high, since they have these mechanic got paid like $100 per hour, and they have heavy investment on those equipment they have. For me, average salary earners can't afford to visit them every time though. Today, I have to fix my car again, and because of the "check engine" was on, and the water pump was making noise, and it was wobbling. I just have make replacement of everything, intake gasket and the water pump. From the dealer, the estimate price for me is around over $800; I have this friend of mine, who only charge me $400 with parts and labor. So, I am not entirely happy with it, I just have to do it. Extra $400 slip out of wallet.

I do think that there are alot of dealers that seem to well over charge people, more so this time of year as they know that people are prepared to pay more just to sort out the problems that they have. There are also people out there that do not have a clue what do and do not need to be done to their cars so they also get ripped off so easily.
