If money's tight and you need money do you borrow from your friends and pay back

I have never borrowed from a friend but I have had friends borrow me and they never pay back. They think I'm giving them the money so now I don't let anyone borrow. I asked them for the money back and they'd say oh, I don't have any money, next time. People can be rude, do you lend money or borrow money when moneys tight? DO you pay back?

I borrowed from my friends many times and paid back to them. Also many of my friends borrow from me and most of them paid back. This all happened when I am financially sound. But when my position came down friends started disappearing and nobody were ready to lend me money. If you need money to borrow you need to be well off financially, this is my personal experience. When people knew you are in down times people will not look at you. So always try to be financially sound. I derive this kind of theories from my personal experiences. Happy Living Calpro

You could not ever lend someone any money again or only lend them a small amount. You can have it where you hold on to any valuables they have until they pay you back. If they don't pay you back within a certain time frame you can just keep the time and sell it.

I always had problems with people borrowing from me they don't return money unless I talk to their parents so I won't loan anyone money anymore I need it to pay off my debts anyway too many dishonest and shameless people in the world the dishonest one never returns what they borrow the shameless one gets mad when I ask for my money back I will never borrow my friends or stranger's money aside from the bank I think most people need money right now so if I borrow from them how will they cover their own expenses? I know some people are sooo nice they will loan me even if they are in need but I will never be like those people who are using other people

I don't like to lend money anymore cause its hard to get money back but if I was in a position where I need money, I would want someone to lend me too but I never was in that position so now, I just lend to people who are trustworthy and hopefully if I'm ever in that position the person will do the same for me. Thanks for sharing.

Well, I try not to burrow, unless it is very very important. Most of the time, I wait a bit. Burrowing money is okay, but if I can avoid it much better.

Financial crisis can happen to anytime. Though I keep some money for emergency purposes but at times even those dont seem enough. So I would usually ask my friend. I borrow but I do return on the time I had promise or I wont make clear committment while borrowing only. But definitely I would return the money as dont want to loose a friend for money. As money can be earned again but not a good friend.

Thanks for sharing & definitely I agree with you. I hate people who don't keep their promise which totally breaks the friendship.

Only when I know I can pay them back, I'll ask for a few dollars...not no major amount..that could cause conflict between you and your friend if not paid back..right now Im out of a job so it would be tuff to ask for a few dollars, since I dont have a way to pay them back right now, and they know Im out of work..and I would feel bad..

I once lent a so called friend whom I knew for a hecking 5 months only and when he borrowed money, he sounded so pathetic and pitiful. A $231 for him and up till now, there's no news from this short and irresponsible fella. He kept on delaying and giving excuses. Well, forget it, let the gods do the rest, let them punish this fella.

hello, There are people/friends or even our relatives who really has the habit of borrowing money and doesn't pay back. I do lend money from friends and i make sure that i pays back,so that the next time that i will asks money from them, they will never have second thought of lending me. It is very sad to know that you've been a victim of friends who abused you when it comes to money. At least it gives you reason to know who are your true friends and who are just abusing you. Happy Holiday

I don't like to be in situations where i am in need of money and i have to look to friends for help. On those rare occasions that i would need financial assistance from a friend I would feel guilty if i didn't make an honest effort to pay it back.

I've lent people money but they paid me back. I'm sorry you have such friends. Whenever i'm short on cash, i borrow money from friends and i make it a point to pay them back. I think it's rude, as you said, to not pay them back after you've borrowed.

I hate lending at all costs and if need be I go to a local organization we have here that is interest free. I would hate to borrow from friends in case I can't pay back in time etc. I would lend to a friend or family in a heartbeat there is no doubt about it and wouldn't expect the money back but wouldn't mind if they paid me back

Wow local organization that lends for interest free? Wow, that is very generous - there is none here.. lol they all have apr rates. But that is nice, I lend but sometimes if I need money, I want it back but they never give any back so I just stop lending unless its close family.

They say that if you want to lose friends, borrow or lend money from and to them. I do not do that, my father taught me the value of self sufficiency at a very young age so that is a no no even in my family although people would borrow once in a while from my wife

I only borrow people some money if I know I get it back and who I can really trust. My former girlfriend sometimes asks me now if I can borrow her some money. I actually don't want to, but unfortunately, I am always so kind and do that. Fortunately, I still have access to her bank account, so I can transfer the money back to my account if she has enough again. But I think, why doesn't she borrow money from her boyfriend? He is rather rich and has much money. But I also have to say that she likes to spend all her money and then she wonders why she doesn't have enough, and if she wants to buy something, she must have it. And she knows I have money, and in former times, when I was in love with her, I always borrowed her something. But unfortunately, she doesn't understand that she should be more careful with her money.

Well, I have to be honest, and I have to pay back the money because what if the same situation happen to you. I won't do such thing as borrow people's money and never pay it back, that just how it work between friends. I would definitely try to work it out no matter what. Do you believe in Karma too, what goes around, comes around too.

well, i have borrowed lots of money from my friends and i am able to payback too. that's what friends do. they help each other. well if you lend money to your friend and he/she didn't payback, then he/she is no friend of yours and only uses you for your money.
