Teenage Drama Queen

I have a 13 year old who thinks if you have money i'm her best friend if i don't then i'm a piece of crap. Any suggestions?

quit giving her money...make her learn to appreciate it. maybe she will understand it isnt so easy to come by...i dont know how you could do that though.

you quit giving her money and it makes everything worse..then she says you don't ever do anything for me or for me..kids sometimes! lol

i used to be like that...and my sister is like that. I really dont know what made me change. I guess it was moving out on my own and having to make my own money..but i know she isnt old enough for that...or even a part time job. Does she do chores for allowance? Make her earn her money and maybe set up a savings account or something for her. It might help her learn the value of money.

I agree. And if she pulls the "You never give me anything!" just say tough. She isn't entitled to all your money, and you don't want her to grow up valuing people only for what they can give her.
