Which for you is the best way to travel? I could be by plane, train, bus, coach or ferry. What it it about that transport that you like? Which is the sort of transport that you don't enjoy traveling on? Why is that do you think? Have you ever done anything like long distance walking or been on an unusual sort of transport?

Hi maximax, Actually I have not traveled much but would like to do some at least. So far the means of transportations I do not mind any of the ones you mentioned. But I know some people do not like to travel by air and some by bus. But I have no problem even if I am to travel by a bullock cart.

Hi there Krajibg, I hope that you will be able to do lots more traveling in the future. Traveling by bullock cart sounds interesting. I have seen those on La Digue Island in the Seychelles. Traveling by air was painful for my ears on each flight that I did and that was the situation for the first ten years of my travels. Then a friend gave me a pair of ear planes and I use a pair on every trip by plane. I don't suffer the ear pain anymore due to using these.

Many of the places I remember in great detail. Sometimes I look at a map to remember how to spell many places I have been to. There is a beach in Samoa, places in Bulgaria like is old capital and the places along the Garden Route in South Africa.

Hi there. I hope that you will be able to try out going on a plane sometime in the future. I know that in a personal vehicle like a car it is lovely to stop of for a rest, to shop or for some sightseeing.

i prefer the train for long sea side travels and airways for abroad. but i really love travellin in my own vehicle so tht i hav the freedom of choosing my route. also its my leisure of when to leav and ahen to stop. better yet it will be an adventure to find ur ways and go on a roadtrip. i prefer a car which will give u comfort and apace and the best part save your lodging fee!!!!. for less distance travels lik for a day or two a harley is the best companion. u simply glide on this two wheeler. so all harley boys be proud

Thanks for your excellent response. Traveling in your own vehicle gives you total freedom. Traveling by train seems to give you time to relax and a sea view is delightful when that happens like Brighton to Hastings. Traveling on a harley must be very exciting.

I enjoyed being in a helicopter. It's comfortable, and I get a much better view of the outside world than a window on a plane. But I guess that isn't practical. So if I had another choice, I would choose a boat. I had fun on the one and only cruise I went on. I found the movement on the ocean very soothing.

Wow! Traveling on a helicopter sounds very exciting indeed. I know what you mean about seeing on the window because normally plane windows are tiny. I found one exception to this on the Maldives on a little plane that went from Male to Gan. I could see the islands and the reef. I am pleased you found your cruise really enjoyable because of the soothing motion.

Since I don't have a long vacation, so I can't spend longer time on the way. This is why most of the time I will choose travel by plane as I can arrive at the destination in a short time. I don't really like traveling by bus because it is not comfortable if you take a long way travel. I love you

I can see that you enjoy a speedy journey by plane because your time on vacation is limited. Planes like to get lots of passengers on board so that is why the seats are close together and not so comfortable. Going by bus at night time can be especially uncomfortable and seem like it takes a long time.

Nothing beats flyinf for me! I love the feeling of take off, landing and turbulence!! lol I don't really like coach travel unless I have to and trains are ok but, I find because of the swaying I cannot read so it becomes tedious on long journeys!

Hi Frankie. It seems that you love flying on planes and except all of it with joy. I find the swaying of trains relaxing. I can see what you mean about reading so that would be tediously boring for you.

I see a lot of people here like to travel by ferry. I have only gone on it for short distances and a few times, so it was nice, not too bad. But accommodation-wise, I would have to say that a bus and a ferry are my least favorite, because there is not much to do, and as one other member mentioned, the bus is very confining. I love flying, but airport security is a nightmare these days, so that takes some of the fun out of it (and the so-called snacks that they give us for short flights, those are lame too). I have recently started taking the lightrail, to commute to school, to cut back on gasoline, miles on my poor car (which I hope can last a little longer with 120k+ on it, and my not so great driving). The lightrail, is good for commuting, but not long distance, especially if you are hungry or standing up... The train is great, if you're not in a hurry and it has accommodations, like food and so forth. I have ridden on both kinds. So of course, the one with the food and things was better (if I ride on the one that doesn't have those, I will have to bring some with me next time...). Sadly, the numerous stops can get tedious. And last, is taking a road trip, in our car. That might have to be my favorite. You can stock up on coffee, snacks, and pack an overnighter and drive anywhere! One time, me and the hubby decided at 8pm that we were going to Vegas. Packed up our overnighters, and off we went. Go there way passed midnight, but of course, the town was just waking up! (P.S. We don't gamble though, so that was funny).

When I was 17 years old my friend and I went on a ferry from Ramsgate to the Netherlands. The ferry had cabins and we slept in one with two bunks. It was delightfully enjoyable to go to the on board swimming pool. I think that it is miserable to go on the ferry is when the waves are high and the vessel is tossing around. During my university years I went on a high speed ferry from Holyhead to Dublin and the weather was stormy. That ferry went ever so slowly indeed and it kept tossing in the extremely high waves. I arrived and all further sailings were canceled. Therefore I stayed longer that I had planned for. I like the sound of your light rail system but as you suggest it isn't fun when it is crowded with passengers. Standing all the way on that would be quite uncomfortable. I hope that you will get lots more miles out of it in the future. Yes, all the bothersome airport security can take the enjoyment out of air trips. Last year I had those in addition to a five hour delay due to fog. At the moment in my home country many planes have suffered delay and cancellation this time due to snow. It is excellent that you like best traveling in your own car.

Hi maxi, I prefer traveling by train and ferry. In the train journey the passing scenery attract me. It is just like cinema show. In the ferry the waves and bumping thrill me.I don't like bus journey at all. It is like prison van to me.

Hi Bhanusb, It is fantastic that you get so very much enjoyment from going on a ferry. I love your descriptions "like a cinema" and 'like a prison van".

Hi there. It is fantastic for you to travel on the train and look out of the window. A ferry trip when the sea is rough can be less comfortable than a journey by plane. If the journey is not going well it is possible to get off the train at the next station.

If I travelled for work, it's always by (my) car if it is close enough to drive, or by plane for long distances. I love going by car because of the speed and I like going through interesting little stores I find along the way. This year we tried a leisure trip by train. It was also great! The only thing I didn't like was the short stops at stations along the rails.

You like to choose the cheapest option and that is perfectly understandable if you are on a limited budget.

I choose to go by bus or coach. It is the most comfortable way to travel and the best reason of all, I don't get to drive. Saves me the resources and my energy. The least for me is by ferry. I tend to get sea sick. Long distance walking? The farthest that I walked to is from one town to another. That is about 10 t0 15 km... :D

I like cars, and I like to drive, a lot. I think they are the most comfortable way of traveling. Though for long distances, it might be very tiring, I still prefer cars to any other means of transportation. And you don't have to worry about a schedule, or buying a ticket. It only depends on the driver.
