Heaven and hell is a reward system?

If you did good on earth according to your beliefs you have a better chance of getting into heaven/ paradise, if you did not then you'll go to hell. It is a reward system brought by religions worldwide to control society's actions and set discipline within a population. Why do people want to go to heaven? Do you even know what heaven is? Why is it a good thing to go to heaven? Is it a good thing at all? According to your religion what are the things that would get you to heaven? What heaven is like? Why hell is discouraged?

Yes you can call it a reward and punishment system. If you do good things you will go to heaven. If you don't then you go to hell. But there is also the aspect of asking for forgiveness. Confess all your sins and all of it will be forgiven, so will still go to heaven. Yes we can also say that it is also a control policy. If the idea of heaven and earth is not true then all people who did good things in life will see their efforts in futility. But what if it is true? Then those who did bad things will go to hell right? If you will ask me, I think it is better to believe that there is a heaven and a hell because it gives you an urge to do good things and a promise of a better place after you die.

But don't you wonder why it is said that hell is not a good place? Why heaven is better than hell? Is it a lie? Is it the other way around?

how did you know all these, have you been to heaven or hell? How can you prove this?

If it is the other way around, it doesn't matter...I am going to the good place where my God is. I don't see Heaven as a place for "good" people and hell as a place for "bad" people. Heaven is a place for the believers of Christ and Hell is the place non believers are sent. There are a lot of so-called good, decent, giving people who will be sent to hell because they did not believe in God. We know these things because we believe and we study God's word. We do not need to prove anything. Again, that is why it is called faith.

VERY GOOD!!! Heaven and Hell is a reward system created by religion. Who could really argue with that truth??? The only Hell a person will get are the results of the consequences of our bad choices.Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy.Everything you do in life comes back to you in time to teach you what your actions really mean. This is never to punish. It will teach. Everyone will know God's unconditional love that heals all hurt. We have all experienced this before that's why we are all spoiled into wanting to always have it made.

heaven is a reward for all the hard work we put on doing or acting good on earth.

We should also sell everything we have and give them to the poor, right?

One does not get to Heaven by working hard. You have to believe in God in order to get to heaven. If you believe in God, you will work hard and do your best to do what is right, but works is not the entrance into Heaven. We are saved by Grace, not works. I rather view getting to Heaven as my reward for believing in and trusting my Lord. All the hard work you do here is meaningless if you lack a belief and faith in God.

Hi Gorillafootprints... if you're asking if heaven and hell is a reward system brought by religions, It's not... heaven is a place where all people who accept Lord Jesus as our Lord and Savior and return to God's grace and guidance. It is a place where True beleivers will be after judgment day comes and Hell is where a place where all people who turn back to God, did not accept truly that Jesus is our personal Lord and Savior and those people who have wicked heart and mind. It's not according to the religion but it is according to the Word of God.

So if your god is not Jesus and your beliefs go against that of what the followers of Jesus believes you will not go to heaven. Would I go to hell if I never knew that it exist?

Well I do believe in god, I do have faith in god, I'm just curious as I am still learning how people run things. What happens to those who never heard the word of god if they die, do they go to hell?

Cecelgay, very well put! Gorillafootprints, If you do not believe in God, then you will not go to Heaven. It is that simple. You are given the freedom to choose what you will believe and whom you will serve. To answer your question about going to hell if you never knew that it existed....that would not be a concern, as the Lord will not come to collect His children until every ear has had a chance to hear His message and every person has had a chance to make a choice for themself as to what he/she will believe.

I see heaven as a reward for living a good life. Heaven is the ultimate to strive for. Following your faith and religion and holding on to your beliefs paves the way to that reward we seek. I would never see hell as any kind of reward. It would be the ultimate punishment instead.

That is the way I see it. As the religions world wide discourage the idea of going to hell by saying bad things about it or maybe warning people of what it may actually be then it is easily seen as punishment like you said.

When the human being created God mentioned "perfect and same as our image" for their all creations, meaning no sins at all. Now why there is heaven and hell, because God wants to restore His perfectness and images to His creation. So all who believed God should be doing good and having reward in heaven (in judgment day) but those not believed God and not doing good will pay their sins in hell until return to God (don't how long will take to pay, depends on the sins done). Both word heaven and hell are mentioned in the bible (word of God) so that I believe it is true. thanks, see you around

So god is imperfect as he cannot make us perfect because he can't? As long as we are stuck to this human body we can't be perfect as we have needs and instincts which makes us more vulnerable to what religions consider as sins.

In my religion to reach heaven is follow orders and away from the prohibition of god. I can not imagine what the hell is like? But certainly in my religion was made clear that the punishment in hell is very poignant. So i hope someday i get heaven

Well, according to what I know, Heaven is a place where there are angels and Gods and upon going there, you get to walk on the bridge made of gold. Hell is purgatory and it's a very hot place, according to superstitious beliefs. There are altogether 18 levels and the lower it gets, the hotter it becomes and the more torturous it'll be. Scary isn't it? Well, for some people, they don't believe in heaven and hell and they just continue doing what they like to do. Bad people continue killing people and stealing money out of greed things like that. I do believe that there's heaven and hell. It's more of a karma thing, whereby when we accumulate a lot of good karma, we go to heaven and we'll enjoy it there. It's just like another kind of Maldives, just that it's high up there in the sky,

Hell is like when kids are told that there are monsters under their bed. I think people came up with hell and heaven on their own. That is just me, I'm not implying that others are wrong to what they believe in it is just my POV.

The way I look at it, each and everyone of us were given lives to live by the Supreme Being. It is not our choice to be in existence here on earth. It is a blessing. So we go about our ways as humans, creatures with free will. That makes us higher than the beasts. And because we are humans, we must abide by a certain social concept where we can live in harmony. Take that away, then anarchy will simply eradicate us all. This is where good and evil comes to play. I have my rights. You have yours. You take away my rights, you violate the conduct that makes us humans. Heaven and hell, well those are the end destination for all of us. We have a choice to make. I am taking heaven. The requirement is simply to be good. It's a reward. I'll take it.

Everyone know that heaven is good, hell is bad. So, all of us want to reach to good things. Right? It's not hard to explain.

Well that is the idea of this reward system. The question is what is the prize that we get for being good? Are we doing good things just to get to heaven?

I think the heaven and hell thing is like a relationship of a father to his little son. Son, I will give you candy if you do good. So the son do good things to get his candy.

Yeah exactly. It is a reward system. If you don't follow you get punished, if you follow you get something in return. If you do bad things you don't get candy, but if you do good then you get candy. It's a reward system.
