Yes - you read discussion title correct!
In the couple of past weeks there was huge agiotage in my country media about 3 pilots from Latvia who "was saved" from captivity in Sudan. That what our government and army officials told us - that they where saved by UN military unit in secret special operation planned by UN and my country specialists. I must say i was impressed and a little bit more proud for my country militarists.
But that was until we found out the truth!
After they returned from Sudan there was no official conference held. Officials said then that it is because all three survivors are too tired to talk to the press and media.
Actually they was forbidden to talk to media because then they could told the truth about how they escaped from Sudanese terrorist captivity on their own!
Real story: They was captured and imprisoned in some Sudanese village about 15km far from city where is small air base. Terrorists told them that somebody will pay 40 million dollars for them (HA-HA-HA!). So they tried to escape several times. At last one day when all guards was fallen asleep they unarmed two of them, took their weapons and aimed at terrorists. they asked to give them rations and then run away. 6 terrorists chased after them, but two of them was shot by our brave survivors. When they was some 10km far from city base mobile phone coverage area started to work so they made a call to a city air base and soon reached it on their own.
This is cool and true story and learn us to one thing - never trust to the government!
Have you ever experienced such a lies from government and official media in your country?

Yeah. media always want to show things so that they get more popularity from that. The second thing is what media controllers - governments, businessman told them to write. ;)

Wow, that's a fascinating story! I've heard about these pilots being saved too, but didn't know that they left captivity on their own. I can't recall any similar stories from the media of my country. Anyway, I am happy that these guys were able to make it! Greetings from Estonia!
