Holiday decorations

Was just wondering when people decorate for the December holidays (whichever you happen to celebrate)? Do you do it in one day, or is it a long process? Personally, I spend all of December decorating for Christmas. I started the lights in early December, but took a couple of weeks before I "finished", and I am only considering it finished because I could not find any more cheap lights on sale. I put my tree up on the 16th this year, and had some friends over to help; one of them had never gotten to decorate a tree but wanted to. I discovered it is much faster to put up an artificial tree when you are not the only one doing it! Now it is now only 4 days until Christmas, and I still have things to put out, mainly because I need to finish cleaning first. So is everyone else all done with their decorating?

I love artificial trees you don't have to keep buying a tree year after. I put my decorations up a day before Thanksgiving. I know some put up decorations in August.

Thanks for commenting. I made this post so long ago, things have changed since then. I'm not nearly as enthusiastic about decorating as I used to be. I still like to have a party around Christmas but now I sometimes don't finish decorating until the day before the party. I think August is far too early to decorate! (Thanksgiving is just fine :) )

I purchased my tree the second week in December but didn't decorate it until last Sunday! I also put up the rest of my decorations then as well. I personally prefer to do it all in one day to get it over with. I'd rather spend the rest of the time shopping for gifts to put under the tree! I guess it really depends on the person. There are some people who are into the holiday and enjoy decorating their house during this time of the year. I LOVE seeing the elaborate homes with all the lights outside, moving decorations, etc. It really gets you in the holiday spirit!!

I know, it is nice sometimes just to drive around and look at the lights, my family used to make a special trip just to do that when I was growing up. Hope you have a nice Christmas!

At the beginning of December I got my Christmas tree out of its box along with many decorations I have used on it in the past. I put gold, silver and red pieces of tinsel on it. Then I hung colorful balls on it. I put some lights on it. So I can turn it on during the evening and see it all lit up. It is a small Christmas tree that I stand on a dining table in my lounge. I have two small children and dogs so there I need to keep it out of their reach. I hope that you will have a very merry Christmas and it sounds like you have worked hard with all your decorations for Christmas this year.

My parents decorated the tree with Christmas cards one year when my sister and I were little, rather than try to keep it out of our reach...a good idea in theory but it looked rather silly. I think you have the better idea, particularly with the dogs as well. I still have so much more decorating to do, we'll see if it all gets done. Thank you and Merry Christmas to you, too!

I like to take my time when i decorate for the christmas holiday. if i rush and try to do it all in one day I don't enjoy it as much. Doing a bit of decorating each day can bring me more joy and satisfaction.

I like doing it that way, too. It's too stressful to do it all at once, and it's so nice to have a little bit more decoration each day. Hope you have a nice Christmas!

I am not yet done with my decorating..hahaha. And im planning not to finish it anymore since it's almost Christmas. I only needed to add the Christmas lights in the garland i hang on our living room, but since i don;t have time anymore, i think i will just leave it that way. I decorated our Christmas tree early week of december but have to do it again just this Sunday because we already transferred to another house so i have to do it again. It's so stressful decorating the house to be able to feel the spirit of Christmas more, but it's fun to see it's beauty afterwards.

I know, that's what makes it worthwhile! It's a shame you had to redecorate after moving, but I'm glad you did; I would hate to not have the decorations up because of moving to a new place. Still have a bit more to do, will probably be bringing up decorations while I am cleaning for my party tomorrow. Merry Christmas!
