To be really happy and really safe ,one ought to have at least two or three hobbies ,they must all be real . The cultivation of hobby and new forms of interest is therefore a policy of the first importantce to a public man.

I like to play erhu,a chinese musical instrument with two strings.It is mind massage for me to play it.

hi,we can't declare that hobby is must,but they may think that their hobby is "Not having any hobby"... In anybody's life these hobbies place more role and sometimes for few people hobbies represents their status also..billiards..Golf etc. I think reading is the best hobby.All the best and have a nice time.

I don't think a hobby is a 'must'. I think it's a 'need' that humans have. Can you explain to me why having a hobby tend to keep us safe? I'm just puzzled by this statement of yours. :)
