Progressive music: other genre mixes

            Now I love mars volta, pink floyd, tool, and muse and many more progressive rock bands, but I'm wondering are there are forms of progressive music (i.e. integration of technical styles between genres). I've been looking around and haven't been able to come across any. Jazz of course is a progressive genre in itself but are there any low-fi or indie/electronica groups that are cutting edge/progressive out there?

                    Well I love symphonic metal, What symphonic metal??? yes that genre is popular in eastern europe, metal, Mezzo soprano female voice(they dont use the growling male voice in this time of metal)The only Symphonic metal that goes mainstream internationally is the American band Evanescence.
My favorite Symphonic metal bands would be Within temptations and lacuna coil. I just like the Gothic vibes symphonic metal has,Its Epic.
