On Nov. 24 I mailed two packages. One package was to my nieces bf in Aftghanistan...the other package was to my daughter and her family in Germany. As you might guess these were both shipped to members of our Military...as to date neither packages has been delivered!!!!! So they are lost. These packages are their Christmas presents. I have two grandkids in Germany waiting for their gifts and it doesn't look like they will make it in time for Christmas. I would hope that someone, somewhere would understand how important these gifts from home are to those that are not with their families...and I would hope they would understand how important it is for their families to have them know they are remembered....so I don't know who dropped the ball here....the US Postal Service....or the Military mail. They are going to have to put a tracer on them...but they still won't get their packages in time for Christmas...I wonder how those cookies taste that I included (after a month)....I am just sick...Have you ever had this happen where your packages got lost by the Post office?

I'm sooooo sorry this has happened, Jill. I know u are upset. I know the postal service here is poor & they could care less. I don't imagine the military service is any better. I haven't had any packages lost lately but haven't mailed one in a long time. Maybe someone will get on the ball & they will get them by sat. That's a bummer.

Being the military makes it all the worse. I see all sorts of things on TV and on the web about sending Christmas cards to those serving the military who can't be with their families for the holidays. Seems a shame that so many people think they're doing a good deed by sending a card to someone in service, but those cards aren't even reaching the individuals!

It's a shame they can't make an extra effort to see they all get their packages & cards. They deserve that courtesy & more.

Oh no, that stinks. I haven't called about sending this book to my friend in Indonesia, I hope the Post Office doesn't do this, my friend is really looking forward to it..

I've never had a package lost, but I did have some very important paperwork that I express-mailed to the USA, get lost. What's more, it cost me major money to file the stupid papers, and my damn certified cheque was in the damn package of papers that got lost. AARRGGHH!!! The P O really needs to take responsibility for their mistakes.

Hey jill, I'm so very sorry to hear that your family hasn't
received their packages yet even though you certainly sent them
in plenty of time to reach them. It is really sad to hear that
the Postal Service or the Military are having a problem getting
the packages to them on time, but I'm sure that they are trying
their best under the circumstances. And I'm also sure that your
family knows just how very much you love them no matter what.
Wishing you and your family the happiest, healthiest and safest
New Year, especially those that are serving our Country-
May God Bless Them and Keep Them Safe,
Warmest Wishes, Leslie/Opal

Hiya Jill,
Apart from all the obvious delays with it being preChristmas and then Christmas itself as they have had such a lot of really bad weather too. Could´nt it have put back the Parcels in getting there by a week or more.
The Weather I saw in Germany was really awful not that it is very surprising at this time of Year.
It must be very worrying for you too not being able to track them properly.
We have had things lost in the Post yes and one time one thing came back it had been steam rollered also and they made no apologies. They said it was "Just one of those things", how do you like that it was worth about 300 Euros then.
Also someone likes to open all my Christmas Mail too when they can. So I always say to everyone not to put anything of value in there.
Hope that they get there soon for them as the Weather is breaking up now a little and things are easing up. Okay they will be late but better late than never.xxx

They finally got it on Tuesday...and everything was in good shape. The other one hasn't arrived in Afghanistan yet....I wish they would realize the importance of these packages as they are going to Military families that are far away from their families!

Hiya Jill,
By now they should have got the other Package. That Package really wants to travel a lot does´nt it?
As long as it all got there in good shape and they are all fine that´s all that matters in the end. Hope it did get there on time anyhow. Take care now.

Aw, Jill. I'm so sorry to hear that.
All we can hope for is that the packages arrive to their homes soon. Even if it isn't by Christmas. Let's hope they arrive as soon as possible in one piece.

Jill I am so sorry this has happened it has happened to me once
I am hoping that they might still get there but it is sad that they have not arrived for Christmas
To be honest the Military Postal Service was not very good when I was an Army Wife so it looks like that it has not changed much at all specially over in Germany
I am sorry Jill, that would upset me to

I am so sorry, Jill. This kind of stuff shouldn't happen but it does. Guess all you can do is explain it to your niece's boyfriend and your daughter that you didn't forget them and the packages are on the way. I would be upset too. My guess is it would be a problem with the postal service. They push through so many packages this time of the year. Am not defending the postal service.
Thinking about you,
carolbee

Hi jill!
Awww, I'm so sorry all that has happened to you. I hope somehow they will at least get these items whether it's by Christmas or after. You certainly sent them out early enough for delivery, so the only one to blame IS the Post Office. How sad but the thought was there, and I'm sure your family will understand. You did all you could do.
I sold some of my Mini Dollhouse candles on Ebay a couple of weeks ago. I wrap them in bubble wrap and surround them in cardboard. So far, 2 people emailed me that they came all crushed and broken. I've been selling these since October and never once had a problem until now, the Christmas season. Things get smashed, broken, or lost.
I just hope that they get your boxes one way or the other. I know this won't cheer you up but just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas anyways. Take care hon.

Well, for me thats irritating.. they should have it before christmas..but i think it wont make it.. so sad.. mailing company should find a way to trace it.

I guess that you didn't put a Tracking Number on the package....that way, you could have found out where it had gotten to....if not quite the destination yet.
I hope everyone gets their gifts....even if it is a few days late.
Merry Christmas....

Jill-
I'm sorry to hear about the issue with the mail. It is possible that it may be the USPS, but I wonder if it is on the military side because Afghanistan is a combat zone. It just may be things are taking a lot longer because they are being screened.
I can't say for certain about Germany but I know even our friend in Canada had to deal with import tax, but also when we sent her a package we had to document the exact contents. We couldn't just put "necklace", we had to state what it was made out of, etc. Luckily it was a simple necklace! So perhaps Germany has the same issue as well and they may have just stopped the package for a search.
Hopefully the tracer will find them!

I can understand the importance of the gift when they are for someone who is living away from the home. I never had such accident in my life.
I lived in a boarding school and was away from home. I wish you a very happy festival and a happy new year.
