Some people are considered fast and slow sleepers?

sleeping elephant - There is one quote saying "you sleep like an elephant".

The meaning to that is that you are a very deep sleeper. Even a herd running around, you wont be able to wake up.

Normally i would take time to be asleep, it takes me around 5-10min to fall asleep and i need total silence in the room for me to be possible to sleep. But i wonder how can people even they are fast sleeper.. they can still sleep in noisy place... and even dangerous circumstances, some of my friends are deep sleeper... I think even if a thief ran around the house, they wont wake up. Or even more dangerous, if there is fire in the house, I guess it would take time to realize that there is danger in the house... In what categories are you in? Arent you feel very insecure when you are one of these categories?

It has to be quiet, not overly warm or cold, I have to have mood music or white noise. It takes me about 20-30 minutes to fall asleep if I do not have pain and I often have pain. I often wake during the night to use the bathroom or due to pain or someone making noise at night then I cannot sleep for at least half hour or an hour. I do not sleep as much as I need or like. I have a son who once slept on a bed of rocks they were big fist sized rocks and he heard nothing he was 16 a the time and he has always slept easy and quick and deep and so does my husband and some of my grandkids. But two sons of mine take long to sleep and like me wake a lot at night. I have two granddaughters who stay up late and wake early and one who goes right away to sleep.

oh.. its ok, just don't force yourself too much then it will be alright... aerobic swimming seems a good idea though. Exercising while enjoying in the water.

woah.. that seems like a lot of work for a mother to sleep peacefully at night. Good luck. Well, sleep is very important to everybody. A person should have at least 6-8hours a day to stay healthy. I think what you need to do is to do exercise during the day (not before you sleep) and I believe you will have a nice sleep at night

Hi, Sleep, hunger and thirst are such things which do not know place or environment to be satiated. Normally I am a regular type of sleeper. It takes 5 to 10 minutes time before I fall asleep. But one of my friends is a super sleeper. He goes to the bed and stars snoring within minutes. I wish all got such nice sleep!!!

That's an interesting topic. Well, as for me, I'll at least take half an hour to get into sleep. I agree with you that some are fast sleepers and they won't wake up no matter what as they've already went into deep sleep.

For me it takes at least 20 minutes to fall asleep and sometimes more. When I've had a hard day with a lot of work, I can't fall asleep easy. I know that this is a problem, but I don't want to get medications.

I believe that its not problem, its just that your body need to relax as well as your mind. Its like a machine, when it has been working hard all the day, and its very hot inside, the machine tend to take more time to cool off than to shutdown itself. Advice, learn how to relax your mind. Do yoga for example.

Your correct some people are faster sleeper but those people are normally fat and heavy. As I know the normal time before your sleep is maximum 15 minutes.. fast is 7 minutes. Then deep sleep are normally for teenager but for the age of 40 up 5-6 hours are enough but not deep... see you around

Do you consider teenager as 40years old? And yes, you're right when you mention that the normal time to fall asleep is 7-15min.

yeah i am around the same with you. i need time to sleep but not long, and need a silent condition. but i think how your way to sleep or how long time you take to sleep is more about what you do in a long day. if you do some heavy work you must could sleep easily and tightly.

Hmm.. very true. The more tired you are.. the less time you take to fall asleep.. I had this experience many time but some times, over tired makes you sleepless also..

It takes a lot of time for me to sleep normally, and even in sleep i can sense things happening around, and when am active like after workouts i feel less prone to sleepiness, you can imagine when in danger situation or when in stress it will be difficult to sleep well, some people are different as i noticed no matter wha comes up they will sleep well and seems less disturbed in sleep.

My husband is a fast sleeper. He sleeps the moment his head touches the pillow! I am the exact opposite. It would take me sometime before I can sleep. Sometimes I can be so sensitive, I can't sleep if there are some sounds that I hear or the lights are on.

I am not actually sure how long it takes me to fall asleep. It is probably around 20-40 minutes, with 40 mins at max. It might be because I think about everything I've done for the day before I fall asleep. This isn't the best habit because I could stay up for an extra 30 minutes before I go to sleep, but also I don't forget homework or things.
