Tesla's new electric car, the Model S Sedan is such a sick car. It runs totally on electricity and it can go up to 300 miles on one charge. The base price is $49,990 with an estimated $20,000 more for the 300 mile range pack.

How is the average american or any country going to be able to afford cars of this price range? I know the Chevrolet has a new one out and it starts at 41,000 and only goes 50 miles on a charge. That would not even get my husband back and forth to work on one trip daily! And once everyone decides or maybe the Govt. decides we have to have electric cars, I really wonder dollar for dollar what the price is between the gas and electric bill that will rise. And whats it gonna cost to charge your car for that hour? Or what if you ran out of energy, and there was not a plug around? I had hoped when they started making electric cars they would be simplier and cheaper but as usual guess I was wrong. Thanks for the information I looked the site up.

The Model S isn't meant to be a fast racy car, it's a family sedan, and you can just charge it overnight and use it all of the next day. How many times do you drive over 300 miles in a day anyways? I think Tesla is still targeting the higher class of Americans until they can get the price down to a reasonable amount. The $49,990 Model S is a big improvement over their $100,000 roadster though. On average it's estimated that it will cost about $0.03 to travel a mile with electricity and it costs about $0.10 to travel a mile with a 30 mpg car.

nah. its rubbish. ill rather buy an exige with that money. if the car can go that fast, 300 miles is covered quickly. and it takes a hell lot of time to fill it up. if you want to have a drive but do not have the volts to do so, you have to wait for hours to charge. if we have a race from Italy to England in a tesla and an exige, i will reach there at least 5 days before you.

Yes, but the Tesla Model S is an electric family Sedan, not a race car. For the average person you can just charge it overnight at your house.
