This afternoon I had the parents' conference. My child studies grade 1 in the primary school now. I think the teacher is very strict but I have to say that she is very careful and she has a high requirements for pupils. This afternoon she said that it shall be easy for the pupils to get 200 scores for maths and Chinese. If the scores are under 98 for each of these subjects, then it's already very bad result. Frankly, I did have a great pressure after hearing it. As to me, I think 98 scores is already good enough. Actually the scores over 90 will be fine in my opinion. It's something wrong with our education.

that is too much to expect from a child... 98 is almost a perfect score... i think the teacher has too much expectations from the students which can be very stressful and pressurizing for the child... i wouldn't want my child to be taught with this type of teacher as i don't want my child to be a perfectionist and in worst case scenario, having a mental breakdown due to the pressure... take care and have a nice day...

I think that 98 is exceptional. Sometimes tests can't predict or show a child's tru potential so I have been about doing the best that can be done. There is a great pressure and sometimes children don't do as well under stress as they normally would.

So far I only know that the highest score is 100, I think a score of 98 was very good, near perfect score.
But I note what you write here, the highest score is 200, right?
If that's true, then the score of 98 out of 200 may not be good, because a good percentage score is above 50 percent from a perfect score.

My friend sorry but my understanding about your details is on other side, may be the teacher was telling that something may be exam for math and chinese for 200 scores or more. IF say so the teacher is correct 98 score is lower gainst to 200 score at least if having 100 score in the middle of 200 or half it. So that 98 is not I think average instead it was a SCORE.. However, in a grading 98 is very good mark. If you can see and think there is no mark or grade to be put in student card as like 200 instead in the range of 100 only.
See you around

Scoring 98 less of 2 points to 100 is an excellent result and every parents should be proud if their kids score that distinction. Getting full marks is also a disadvantage as it will create over confidence on the students and might make them not competitive anymore. So 98 is a good score.

Based on a maximum score of 100, then 98 would
be excellent. If the maximum score is higher,
then it would be up to you as to what would be
acceptable.
Personally, I would find 98 to be a very
noteworthy and acceptable grade for a very
young child.
Seems like your child is doing a very good job
in school.
Congratulations on the nearly perfect score.

hi youless I sure think 98 is a wonderful score and if Children
achieve that score then they are well on their way to success in
school.Really anything above 90 is excellent and any parent should be proud of his or her children for g getting such good grades. But some parents insist on 100 percent which does tend to really pressure a child. I should know as I never could get a well done from my own dad no matter how good the grade he always said"You can do better" No dad I could not as that was my best and you never learned that 90 and above was excellent. and thus I had to learn that it was excellent and all the best that was my personal best. So parents do not demand more than a child can do. If he or she cannot get more than 95 that is their personal best. yu fttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

That is beyond strict. I think it'd be fine if the kid scores above 80 but that is just me. I see it unreasonable for a child to score 98 on any test. I'm not saying its impossible, I'm just saying that if the most of the class is expected to reach this level than its far to high. I just hope this teacher doesn't push the kids or stress them out over the scores. If she pressures them to have high score it might only stress the kids out and result in lower scores. Right now kids are just kids, they should be focused on education but right now education shouldn't be the only thing on their minds. They should be having fun and doing things other kids do. It's no big deal if the kid scores below a 98 if they score higher than a 90 than that is still great too!

You are right. I know these exams are easy for us, and it is not very difficult for the children, too. However, they are very careless to do it since they are so little. So it's not possible for them to get full marks. And when they grow up, the exams will be too difficult for them to gain the full marks.
