I have been finding that my 78 year old aunt and other elderly people I know are having problems falling asleep and staying asleep. I can remember when I was young my parents would fall asleep with no problems, my father in particular would fall asleep sitting down watching TV. These days I notice that elderly people I know are staying up for days, and some have said that they have tried the sleeping pills and they did not help. I know that medicines are changing and there are lot of side effect with most if not all the medicines out there. There have been reports that Americans are having problems sleeping. I thought that all elderly people fall asleep just from sitting down, maybe my opinion was formed from my father, but it is a concern and want to know what I can do for my aunt. Any thoughts?
