Do you agree with the way our veterans are treated by the government? for several years now they have not gotten a cola raise. they have to wait months before they can get in to see a doctor. i know my hubby lost the vision in his right eyes waiting 18 months to get in to v a to see the doctor. they served our country but yet the government acts like they do not matter. it is almost like hey slap on the back thanks and then thats it. i believe they deserve more than what they are getting. when my husband became disabled in the line of duty we had to fight for 2 years to get what was suppose to be his to start with.

Is this what's happening? Wow, that's just wicked. They have served the country but the country ignores them after their service. Well, isn't that just awful.. Talk about loyalty..

I'd be glad too if ever my wife served for the country but the government should at least do their job like true citizens me the country. After all, the service the vets offered was also for them too.

yes this type of stuff happens all the time. i mean there are vets that are homeless not by choice but because somewhere in the gov someone dropped the ball. they know they owe it to them but like everything else the gov doesn't want to pay without a fight. they expect vets to be loyal but they aren't loyal at all. my hubby says you have to fight but you also have to pick which fights. don't get me wrong i am glad my hubby and the others served i just think the gov should be helping them more than they do.

I'm just curious, but would you prefer veterans to just be insured like other federal employees rather than having to go to VA facilities and providers for some types of services? It seems like trying to run a separate parallel system might be making the whole process more inefficient, though I know some people think the system work quite well. Maybe you'd just prefer a bigger network of facilities and providers? Considering veterans like your husband have injuries directly related to their service, it seems to me that the first priority should be making sure they get the best quality treatment they need as quickly as possible...18 month waiting periods should not be happening.

when you go to a differnt doc the v a refuses to pay so you have to pay the whole amount out of your pocket. we have a number to triage at the v a hospital and one night my hubby called his bp was 212 over 130. the nurse called us a lie said it is impossible to be that high we checked it on 4 different machines my hubby told them off in unpolite words and we went down to local emergancy room. they had to put him on bags and needles in his heart. anyway it is 1 year 3 months later and x rays and mri show hubby had 3 minor heart attacks but va claims they cn not find what is causing the pressure to be so high. rather than looking they just change his meds.

I'm not sure that they are being fully respected and looked after by the government. I do have my doubts. I do think that they should be better treated.

I really think that most have gotten the shaft. They are not getting the medical care they were promised, especially those that were injured serving and protecting our country. They need to have move veterans hospitals, and they need to have more doctors there to help our vets.

here is something we had it all in writing when he left the military but they didn't want to keep the agreement. now we find out that a bill has been passed to let civilans go to v a hospitals. we have to wait months now if they open to the public then god knows when we will be able to see a doctor. we would be better off going to a regular hospital in that case.

I wonder if it is the policies or the execution. Many times it is the execution that causes the problem.

most of the time it is some kind of policy that has to do with slowing things down. Also alot of it is congress just don't care anymore. like clothing allowances are supposed to be done prior to sept 30 but every year we don't get iit til nov sometimes dec. we have to call a congressman get him involved then they get it done. my hubby is supposed to be automatic but for some reason it keeps getting messed up year after year.

I agree with you that our veterans are not treated well

We enjoy our way of life because of this guys. It is just fitting for a bill to be passed in my opinion a clear and dated set of what this veterans would reaaly get once they are out of the service.
