I am using pen drive for more than 5 years. It is very easy to transport data with it. But I can transfer data with a rewritable CD or DVD too. I am using a decent antivirus. I update it on daily basis. Still pen drive is able to inject viruses inside my system. One of the popular virus or malware coming from pen drive is the AUTORUN. I have to format my PC resently due to one of such virus. I am now just pissed off with my pen drive. Any solution??? Please tell me....

lol that was funny to read the header but...yes, these days there are lots of viruses that are just on the watch... you play unsafe and get bugged. I have just made my DVD rendered useless... damn the virus got in via the Pen Drive... and I am in no mood to format... man I just did it last sunday and its just 7 days old. But the DVD wont play I am sure I am not going to install any anti virus now as long I keep getting data via pen drives. At least that way I am happy - I stay unsafe and let the worms flourish and have a feast. I miss UNIX or LINUX on this system now

Good title their.. Its a common problem I guess. As I faced such problem many times. Yes pendrive is risky to attach with out system as virus can easily infect our system from flash drives. And pendrive is most common in people. So whenever it comes from unknown source we better don't attach it with our system. It may carry virus. I don't think there is any way. Anti virus is their but surely no anti virus are 100% secure. So better we keep anti virus up to date and format our pen drive when it comes from unknown system.

Thats why i mostly don't use my pendrive on other system whenever i am having some important data on it... well pendrive is a personal thing. But mostly we allow our friends and others to use it.. and by that our pendrive will use on more systems... so it will increase the chance of viruses... During this time we can use our anti virus.. and better do scan before use it. and also after opening pen drive better don't execute unknown exe files as it can be virus and execute on our system.

I format it whenever I can. But, some of the time I have some useful data and I have to copy it. What to do then.

Just to say that I don't really know a solution for this, so sorry! But I want to add that this virus is really driving productivity down! Formatting hardisk every now and then is terrible

debs use usb disk security.its specialized only for pen drive.though i dont think its good enough for trojans but it is really helpfull against the viruses trying to land to your pc,and it detects the common pen drive viruses like autorun.and it can delete this viruses efficiently.so i use both these protection in my pc.usb disk saves me from autorun and antivirus saves me from the toher giant killers.
