Does anyone know the best way to learn Mehendi design?

I've learned to draw mehendi since a year ago but still it is not good enough until now. I always rely on mehendi design book. whenever I try to do without guidance from any book or other resource, I feel blank, I don't know what should I draw. :) Is there anyone who have experienced on learning mehendi? I'd like to hear from you about the techniques to always remember the pattern of the design or being accustom with various design. Because I've tried to remember many designs but seems it's really difficult for me. Thank you for the answers.
