As always Christmas came with very much time spent at home, cooking, skiing, skating and even more snow removal. So it makes people and their houses more dirty as usual. This Christmas was not exception and me and my family enjoyed it all. Only as a misfortune we got unexpected "gift" from our municipal heating company - hot water was cut off at 25.December! I must say we where very disappointed and badly surprised when found out about it. I am glad that i have one 100 liters boiler at WC which can be connected manually to kitchen and bathroom too, so i feel not so bad as many others who live in my house or even in our village. Have you ever received such Christmas "gifts" ?

i am sorry to hear that you have to receive such a christmas gift from the heating company on christmas day... that is not nice at all... but something like this unfortunately is unavoidable... fortunately, you have a boiler that you can still use so you can still use hot water... i hope you still have a great christmas despite of this small incident... take care and have a nice day...

YES! Almost the very same thing happened here on Christmas day this year. I was cooking the Christmas turkey and other side dishes when the power suddenly went out all through our neighborhood. When it was out for one or two hours, I had to take the turkey out of the oven and put it outside on our deck because the temperature outside was just above freezing. That cooled off the partially-cooked turkey fast and ensured that it would not go bad before I could get it back into the oven once the electricity came back on. We just didn't know when it would come back on. Some of our neighbors, who apparently had a lot of guests for the day, drove out of the neighborhood after about an hour with no electricity. Six cars came down the road. We stuck it out here, even though we had no heat (we have electric heat). The only thing I could use, at least a little bit, was hot water. Our water heater is connected to a propane gas tank so we could have hot water, at least as long as there was water in the well's bladder. Our well is operated by an electric pump so, once the water in the bladder was gone, we'd have no hot water, either. Luckily, the electricity was only off for about 3 hours and then came back on. It did get a little chilly in the house, since it had only gotten to one degree above freezing all day. So, you're not alone in receiving such a "wonderful" gift on Christmas day.
