So as some of you my have read from my past posts in this section here at MyLot my husband and I have a goal to visit the entire world, sure its not that realistic but we can dream can't we? . I keep reading a site called DansDeals which has amazing flight deals and online shopping deals every few minutes and he just started a round the world trip for free(he explains how he does it all). We are thinking of doing the same thing in the summer using our miles and hitting up roughly 7 countries or maybe far more if we can use the trains in Europe to travel from country to country. So has anyone else ever bought such a ticket and if yes share your experiences with us.

When I was 20 years old I went on a trip around the world. I stayed away on that fantastic trip for just over one year. On my trip I traveled to California, Hawaii, Fiji, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. I managed to pay for it by letting out my cottage and working in Australia. I had got a working holiday visa for Australia. I worked as a children's nanny, a charity collector and a factory worker. Then when I was 29 years old I did a teaching contract and when it ended I went off to New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. I spent a few months away on that lovely trip. Then I came home and got a job in a school covering one maternity leave and then another. I have been on plenty of other shorter trips. Last year I took my disabled toddler son to Cape Town and the Garden Route. Then this year I took him and my baby daughter on a trip to Vancouver. I was 18 years old when I did my trip around Europe by train. Countries in Europe are small so you could visit many of them on the same trip.

I would love to visit the Pacific Islands and New Zealand as it seems so beautiful! Sounds like you have seriously seem a bit of the world! My husband and I have our goal and we can reach it if you put in the effort I believe and save those miles. We purchase 2 shot-glasses from each State and each country so lets hope to have a huge collection soon. Thanks for your reply and hope there are many more adventures for you in the future!

Thanks for giving me the best response. Good luck getting many more 2 shot glasses from other states. Yes, this discussion was three years ago. In 2011 we went to the Caribbean coast line of Colombia. We went to more countries in South America in 2012. Yes, we visited Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Uruguay. In 2013 we will be traveling by train to Eastern Europe. Yes, after that I am planning even more adventures.

Flight around the world, no. Eurail pass, yes. Was a great experience, though I'd probably have tough time now shlepping luggage in and out of train stations. This is one of the stories: http://rddcn.multiply.com/journal/item/242/Honeymoon_Blog in two blogs because I forgot the funniest story: http://rddcn.multiply.com/journal/item/243

I would love to do that too, but not until the children are much older (or I win the lottery)...

Thats amazing, I would love to visit the Pacific Islands! Dansdeals is a site that has crazy deals in general for all items but he also has tricks for credit cards if you are American and shows you how to get free flights using the cards without paying too much etc. The owner of the site just used miles for a world ticket.

2011 we decided to focus on as many of the States as possible as we want to visit them all together(husband and wife). Plus maybe a trip to Belize on the side or Africa would be awesome. Thanks for the encouragement!

What he does is get a credit card from an airline company that offers a crazy amount of points to spend say $500 in 3 months on it and he then stopped using it and paid it off and got enough points for a few tickets etc. Read his post about his world travel.
