Why people fall prey to negativity?

Case and point..I'll bet you clicked on my discussion simply because of the negative connotations in the heading right? Or were you just curious? In any event, what ever made you stop and read my pole is because it had something negative in the title that made you subconsciously take interest. I know, I know...a lot are going to say nay to this...but the harsh reality is that, we as a people fall prey to the powers of negativity ten times more so than the powers of being positive. And this is a silent cancer that plagues many like an epidemic. How do you fight the powers of negativity on a day to day struggle?

There are so few discussions, Urfun2, that take my interest, that it is a relief when one looks as if it is about something that interests me. Your discussion is the kind that interests me. That's why I pounced on it. As for negativity, it is very easy to be negative. Do you notice how the media seems to concentrate on the negative things in the world. Sure, there's lots of bad things going on, but there are good things, too. These hardly rate a mention, especially in newspapers. When the media, and government too, present and discuss negative issues so often, don't you think this helps the people to think negatively? What we need to have are TV channels (free-to-air?) that accentuate the positive - successful people telling us how they succeeded, and all sorts of programs that help people to be creative, discover the career (or business ) of their choice. But no, it's negative, negative all the way. It's almost as if there's a government/media conspiracy to maintain a level of negativity to keep control over us.

Cachalot, well thanks so very much for your insight. What you say is so true about the media though...It generally always starts off with all the horrible things happening in and around the world. Then like to close things off with something lighter. If you watch carefully that is generally there formula. I find that I am watching less and less of the news on regular television because of this and opting to get my dates via web...Why bask in it right?
