Have you ever been on a quick trip like a day out or a weekend away? If so where did you go and what sort of time did you have? Have you traveled at a slower speed on local trains or buses on a long journey staying away for a week or more on your trip? Have you been on any plane trips? What was your longest trip or your shortest trip?

Hi Maxine, I have been to the beach for the day (it´s 2 hours away from where I live) or to the mountains for the same time which is less than 2 hours from my home as we don´t have to cross the city. You know my country is long and very thin: the Pacific Ocea on une side and the Andes on the other. As for my longest trip, if I don´t count when I went to live in the US for a year and a half when I was little, has been a 6 month´s trip we made with my husband. In that last trip we traveled to some places in South America (to some even in buses), then went to the US where we stayed for over 2 months (travelled mainly in a rented car and then in a lent car)and finally were camping throughout Europe for about 3 months. That was mostly done in my brother´s car with my sister´s camping gear as they both lived in Lausanne at the time.

Hi my friend Marguicha, It is lovely that you are just two hours drive from the beach and you not as far from the mountains. Yes, sometimes it can take ages to cross a city. Due to your country being long and thin I know you like to fly sometimes. When you spent six months traveling around some of South America, the USA and Europe with your husband it must been very interesting. It was convenient that your siblings lived in Lausanne at the time.

That is the special view of the Andes Mountains. Wow. You are very lucky to see that from your front window. I used to live in a house with field views and when I wanted move because of Leo not ever being able to walk I had a look at bungalows in my price range. I found where I live now because of the lovely view from the kitchen window. It is a green space.

The Andes mountains near Santiago, Chile - This is a picture I took from my house. When Winter starts, the Andes turn white. It is awesome.
I´m sending a photo of my mountains as I see them from my window. I could not live without the Andes nearby.

I've tried taking day tours and believe me they are not enough. That is the case when we took a day trip to Macau and Bohol on different occasions. Both places offer so much that taking a day trip is a no no...This will just leave you hanging at the end of the day. But on the other side, it gave me a reason to go back again...

I would love to visit Bohol Island and there is enough to keep me busy there for three or four days. Then I would like carry on my island hopping in the Philippines. It was excellent that these places interested you so you made plans to come back which you did sometime later.

Sure I've gone on a couple of day trips before. I went to San Francisco and Lake Tahoe (not in the same day, of course LOL). By what I remember I had a pretty good time on both, though when it comes to the trip to Tahoe my mom and I got into an accident when heading back home. Fortunately no one was hurt and we made the rest of the way safely, even if we were a bit shaken up. I'm not sure what my longest trip has been. I don't do any traveling now, but my parents used to take me places when I was little. The last big trip I took was to Las Vegas and I believe that was a 9 hour trip. As far as planes go, I've only been on a couple. Once to my destination and once for the return flight home. That's pretty much it. Happy mylotting and Happy New Year!

I often take short trips to the surrounding places of the city I'm currently living in. Short trips are less tiring than long trips.

It is lovely that you are able to take short trips out of the city that you are living in at the moment. For as short trip you take less luggage.

This year we took a slow trip. We booked a re-positioning cruise back to our place. So going to the departure port we took a slow train. And then we stayed in the city overnight, woke up late, and just went to the ship for the cruise. It was very relaxing. And the food was great. There were a lot of activities to do on the ship which made us want to go for a longer trip next time.
