Hi Mylotters, I realized one thing for good today - We do many things that others tell us NOT to do. Here are a couple of examples - 1. Ban a book and you would find many trying to grab pirated copies 2. Say to a child - Dont eat chocos and it would try to have one whenever it gets a chance 3. Say someone - you should not be eating this - and the taste buds start desiring to taste it ..... Get the idea? Now I try to word what I have in mind - Make all the illegal things Legal - This way I believe the crimes would be lessened. Because they would become legal and allowed, many would just not be interested do commit them as there would be no news and no hype - the bride burning, the dowry system, the women abuse, the child abuse.... it is a long long list of crimes. I know it is not my responsibility to formulate laws that govern our societies but I can make some suggestions right? Any suggestions? Cheers, theSids.

Great to see you back John, A Belated Merry Christmas. Hope you are recovered fully from your illness you mentioned the last time we met. It was a great article on parenting and many a parents should read that. Telling the kids "DONT" in turn doesnt help instead they feel confused and without a path. theSids.

Hi Sid, Thanks, for bringing this up. :O) I don't think see it quite the same way, Sid--though I'm in the ball park. First of all, a lot of the laws are simply--in my opinion--wrong. So, the idea that we'd make things legal in order to make the stated intent of the laws come true has me rolling my eyes a little. Where I do agree is that the whole judgmental approach makes some people feel attacked. So, what might be a slight difference of opinion mushrooms into huge harshly unexpedted behavior. Also, there's a lot of posturing in society. A lot of people PRETEND to dislike behaviors and situations that they like and vice-versa. And, when such people are in positions of power--it's sort of a big comedy! (At best.) It's silly trying to regulate so much behavior. And, it's even sillier to think that laws could possibly succeed in achieving such a thing. What's best is to simply use laws to help people be able to do what they want in a relatively orderly fashion, so your partying doesn't interfere with mine. Very often, the naughty thing one person wants to do is just what another person wants done "to" him or her, after all. This can be true in situations that are pretty much mind-boggling! :P Sunshine & Blessings, Giovani

Hi Giovani The laws were initially meant to be good for all but the people and their interpretations made them go wrong for many. The society never things alike as we are all individuals. People go on killing others or hurting or even robbing others because of the differences. These differences in my opinion are caused by laws. The laws make some commodities beyond the reach of someone and this time the person starts thinking a way out to get to that commodity. If they were not beyond the reach, maybe the person would never have wanted to have a go or lust for it. A simple example from my experience - I never craved eating spicy food until the doctors said - I should avoid spicy food as this would mess up my illness. I obeyed but it was not long before my taste buds started craving for the spicy food. I tried to control this but each time I tried a control, I failed and the desire became stronger. Then finally I had spicy food and my logic was - ok, I am now eating this just to see how far the treatment is going to take me. My mom was - OMG you never had liked the spicy food and now when they are a NO you want to have it. The scarcity of something increases its demand is what economists say too.

Hi Sid, Well, sure, when somebody says you can't do something, it awakens your desire to express your individuality. This is the ego doing its thing. However, I don't think the reason why so many things seem out-of-reach is ultimately because of laws. I think it's because people don't understand how to organize to fulfill their will. I'm not talking about social movements, now. Just the fulfilment of individual will. The best book on the subject is TEAMWORKS by Barbara Sher and Annie Gottlieb. Its premise is that you can have anything you want as long as you're willing to let other people help you! Hahaha! :P How refreshing, no? And, obviously, you need to be willing to help others with their dreams, but that seems to be the easy part for most people. I really tend to see most people as very generous, when it comes to others, but pretty timid when it comes to themselves. The book they wrote before that was WISHCRAFT, which can be read for free at its namesake dot-com. Weirdly, they're both out of print, but you can obtain used copies via Internet, library, and used book stores. Just thought I'd veer this in a practical direction, Sid. Sunshine & Blessings, Giovani

hi I am chewing on that idea.reverse psychology, well how avout we suggest when someone whines about losing so many deleted discussins and hgow mylot is just a scam after all, we just suggest" oh dont read the rules after all it stops your freedom of exporessin, and above all do not read the questions and answers in the information I know it is just so boring, and do not want to make much money'yere its just for socializing, but again please do not read the rukes, after akk you do not want to make a lot ofc money here. reverse that it just might work. but in our complex society I douvt if it would really work.I mean I myself would be shocked to see suddenly get drunk everyday, get s toned out of your gourd, kill as many people as you like, going to jail is fun now this would scare me silly as for everyone who would do right there will bve some who will take this as free license do be even more immoral thab they already are.I remember one mylotter here who got a zillion responses as he started out with the title only my friends can read this.'uh huh. He had over one hundred responses from I am sure many who were not on his friends. If this really would work what an ideal world.

It certainly will lessen in a great many ways. Unfortunately you will still have the repeater go hay wired and abuse it any which way possible. What I always use to tell my kids was that do like me and you will regret. HA! It worked as they are so wonderful and great. See I did not believe in being a hypocrite by telling them, do not do like me, as of course they saw me as this wonderful saint of a mother and naturally would think that if they did like me they would turn out okay. So I was completely honest and told them exactly how I was brought up and how I have led my life and this way they understood that life had to be better.

Your idea is very novel but how come make all the illegal thinfs legal? Each crime is at the expense of others'life or property.

Hi changjiangzhibin All crime is not at the expense of others' life or property. But most of it is. My point is not that. My point is that why someone would kill others? I think - a. fame, b. enemity / rivalry c. lack of something/want of something a. fame - criminals know if they commit a crime they would be published and people would know them - there would be no publicity once there was nothing criminal in their action b. rivalry/enemity - criminals tend to take revenge because they feel someone hurt them - this is because of rules that govern society - property is scarce and so everyone needs a share - in good old/ancient days, the property was abundant and there were less crimes for property c. lack/want of something - this is created again by economics - a set of rules.
